Who has been too tight and stalled out?

Recommended Posts

I got my second fill a little over two weeks ago now and I have been SUPER tight (eating maybe 6 bites for meals and too much PB for my taste), but I have been toughing it out... I lost great the first week and after that I have really stalled out -

Talking to my team today the think I should have .5 CC removed as I might be in more of a starvation mode...

Anyone else had this problem... It seems so contridictory, but if that is what I need to do to get moving so be it... it is so frustrating to eat very very very little and see no movement!!

I feel really good as far as never being hungry, but I am not eating much and feel pretty bad after just several bits..

I probably should not have been so stuborn and should have had some removed earlier, but I thought I could make it work... this isn't supposed to be easy right :(

Any one have thoughts - do you think this is possible or should I tough it out longer and see... who has had some removed and got back to losing again after being too tight? Any encouragement? THANKS!

Hi, mommy of two, I think you should get a little removed, because it's not healthy.. 1. your band could slip if it's to tight. 2. you're not getting enough of nutrients so you're probably right you're in starvation mode and your body is holding on to every piece of food. Get a little bit taken out and I'm sure you're feel better and you'll probably start loosing some more.

Sounds like solid advise. Also, don't forget to drink all your Water daily, and make sure your first bite is small enough, and chew it long enough.

the goal of the band is not to starve yourself. good job on getting a bit out.

I agree with Cordelia. This isn't about starving ourselves. It kills me to read posts where people know they are way too tight and can only take a few bites, and they're okay with that just for the sake of impatience and being able to lose those pounds a little sooner. You're putting your own health and the life of your band at risk by doing that. I'm glad to hear you followed your teams' advice and had it removed. Hopefully it goes well and you start to see that scale moving!! Good luck!

I am in the same boat as you! I had my first fill...nothing..

second fill I got Monday, was on liquids Monday and Tuesday and today, I could barely eat a few bites of scrambled eggs without getting the stuck feeling. I was told to hold off bc I may still be a tad swollen and things may feel better in a couple days. I have 5.5cc in a 11cc band. I can drink no problem.. but if my eating continues to be 'tiny' than i may have to get a bit removed...

Keep us posted how you are doing after the unfill!!

hi mommy of 2 and agnes,

i did this (filled too tight) when i was first banded and stopped losing weight. i didnt believe it till i experienced it.

i finally understood our bodies are like machines and must be fed to lose the weight.

the best combination i experienced was eating the recommended calories/protein, etc and exercising 4-5 times a week. i dropped weight like crazy when i did this.

anyway good luck with your band....

Hi momoftwo, Wise thing to have a tad removed. I have had 9 fills and one small unfill, now have approximately 8.6 in a 10 cc band. The earlier fills were easier. As I lost more weight, it seemed to take a little longer (maybe 4-8 days) before I could tell my restriction was changing. I did 24 liquid and then 24 soft foods after each fill. The fill I had major trouble with was #8 , a fill of 1.0 cc. I tried and tried to make it work. I lost 6 pounds in week #2 after that fill. Too much sliming and PB'ing. I am good now. If I don't pay attention when eating or if I am having dinner with my kids and tend to eat too fast it will happen. I am 18 months out and 5-10 pounds from goal. So I eat about anything i want in very smalll quantities, bloodwork and other numbers are great, Gets lots of exercise and loving life. Hang in there, Those fills will make a difference..

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
