I see that most everyone knows the size of their band, and the amount the band holds, etc. How do you know this? I was banded on the 12th and I have no idea what size my band is or if any Fluid was added or not. I get hungry every 2-3 hours and still on liquids so I assume my band is empty. Is this something I will learn at my 2 week post-op visit? I haven't seen or spoken to my doctor since right the before surgery.

My surgeon gave me the box my band came in as well as a record of my care in the hospital which showed the size of my band and serial number and how much fill he put in. I thought this was the industry standard but I guess I'm mistaken. You need to ask for all this information.

Also, don't gauge your fill level on other peoples levels because there are different size bands that hold more or less fill. I kept thinking I needed more fill because I was comparing what some say is their "sweet spot" and I hardly had any by comparison. Come to find out I have an older style 10cc band that only holds 4cc fill. I am perfectly filled at 2.28cc. This is why it is so important to know. If you were to go elsewhere for a fill you would need this info.

Best of luck to you,

Donna

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
