I went to The Weight Loss Clinic in Harrisburg. Is there something you want to know? I had a really good experience with them.

I'm just waiting and wondering and then in my axnt I called cap blue cross today and they told me they don't even have the claim yet so now I'm bummed. so I guess I wanna know how long did it take, who was your surgeon, which of the many requirments I read about did you have to do? and from the looks of your ticker your doing pretty well.

I had Dr. Davidson and things were pretty easy. I did have to wait a long time for the process. When I started, Capital Blue Cross required a 6 month diet, so I had to do that. It was completely ridiculous, like I haven't been dieting for most of my life. The insurance requirements may have changed, but I needed lab tests, a psych eval, and I also had to go to 2 of their support group meetings. After all that was done, they submitted the insurance claim and then waited for approval. That took a couple of weeks. Then it took about 3 weeks until the actual surgery. One of the good things about this clinic is that they don't require a pre-op liquid diet. You do need to do liquids after the surgery, but I wasn't hungry at all and it really wasn't bad.

Hi, I am with the WLC in Harrisburg also. I have Dr. Currie. I am having the last appointment next Friday, Sept. 4. After that, I just need to meet with the nutritionist and set the surgery date. I am self-pay, so can't give you advise on the insurance issue. However, in terms of how long it takes... my first appointment was in April. I will have surgery in Oct. (most likely). Since you are approved, it should go quickly for you as well. Some of the delay in my case was related to being able to complete the bloodwork, and scheduling appmts. far enough from one another so I gave myself time to save $13,000.

Good luck and

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
