Cancer sucks!!!

Recommended Posts

I just came across this thread and was wondering how your mother is doing?

I lost both my parents from cancer quite a few years ago so i whole heartedly agree with you - CANCER SUCKS! My aunt just finished her treatments for lung & throat cancer and she is free & clear for now. She and I will keep you and yours in our thoughts!

I am sooo sorry to hear that you lost your parents to this HORRIBLE disease! :crying:Time makes things a little easier, but it never fully repairs the heart nor does it prepare you for the possibility of it happening to someone else in your life. Like your Aunt. I feel for your family. So much cancer....but there is good news. Your Aunt is doing well. YAY! Congrats on her treatments ending. That is a battle all of its own. I hope she continues on the path to a full recovery!!! :thumbup:My thoughts are with you and her as well.

And thank you for asking about my Mom. She is doing better day by day. Still in pain, and still receiving radiation on a daily basis. She cant be left home alone just yet, but it seems like she is making more progress each day and her spirit is just amazing. Her whole outlook on life has changed since her first diagnosis of brain cancer two years ago. Too bad it took something like cancer to make her see all the good in her life. Too bad it took her diagnosis to see how much I have in my life too. Mom starts chemo soon, so her battle isnt over just yet. She watched my Grandma endure chemo and isnt looking forward to the treatment. Infact, my Grandma gave up chemo because it just made her remaining time more difficult for her. (She died of lung cancer back in 1996...when I was 16. I was at her bedside.) But she is well. Thank you again!!

Well wishes to your Aunt!

Well I have to agree cancer SUCKS!!!!! I have battled it twice went thru 9 surgeries chemotherapy and radiation!!!!! I have lost my mother to this awful disease, I was only 28 at the time. Yes cancer SUCKS!!!! There is not a day that goes by that I don't feel a little bump or find an unusually large bruise and wonder if my cancer is back again. My logical brain says worrying about it will not help but the rest of me worries that I will never see grandchildren, retire after working 36 years of my 49, ETC etc! Yes cancer SUCKS!!!!!

You are such a strong woman!!! I couldnt imagine the strength and the will to live you have. WOW! Kudos to you and your having battled Cancer TWICE!! And I cant even fathom what goes through someone's mind when they have beaten cancer, and have to go day to day, wondering if that is the end of it. I mean, I have had cancer scares, but nothing more than a scare....and that is enough to keep me on edge. But to have gone through it and beat it twice, CONGRATULATIONS! :mad2: And tell your "logical brain" to stop worrying about never seeing grandkids, or retiring or whatever else it is saying. Stay positive. You have beaten it twice. That is twice more than most people! Keep living for today and look forward to tomorrow. You are here now and here for a reason. My thoughts will be with you and yours!!!

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
