Got stuck! Back to basics...

Recommended Posts

I had my 2nd fill last Friday. I have 8 cc in a 14cc APL band. During this whole process, I seemed to do quite well. I could eat anything, bread included and nothing bothered me.

This morning I woke up and during Breakfast I got stuck. (I started feeling fuller and fuller yesterday and remember during my 1st fill, my doc told me that it could take a few days after your fill for you to feel restriction.)

I guess I thought I was invincible, that I would never get stuck, never have a PB or slime, etc.

Well today was a wake up call for me. Back to the basics now...

I finally had a PB and it came up, but boy was I miserable! I think I learned my lesson...

alot of people can't eat breakfast like normal. I can't eat anything till at least 9am. If i do, it comes right back up.

WOW that brought back memories of two weeks ago when I had my first "stuck". I found out fast what slime and PB'ing meant!! lol  If it happens again I think I am going on liquids for the rest of my life!!

I don't know if you ever saw the movie The Excorsist, but I suddenly felt like that famous scene with the green (pea soup) slime! It took over my body and scared the bejeeeeezs out of me! I stayed on anything without lumps in it for a week.

Yeah, my doc's assistant told us: "once your feet hit the floor in the morning, get something to drink."

Makes it easier for breakfast to go down (and everything else- I try to get my 60 oz's of Water in by 2pm and have little trouble the rest of the day).

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
