Mia26 0 Posted August 19, 2009 I have my pre-op testing tomorrow (Thursday). It consist of... (reading straight from my lab orders) blood work - BHCG(Qualitative) - CBC w/ Diff - Comprehensive Chemistry (CMP) - H. Pylori - Liver Panel - PT/PTT - T3, T4, TSH - Urinalysis - B12, Ferritin, Vit D 25 Hydroxy Chest PA and Laterial, UGI and physical from my primary care physician. From there I have a meeting with my surgeon on Friday to discuss my results! Praying everything is okay and that I am good to go for surgery. Good Luck! ThePoolGirl 1 Posted August 19, 2009 Hi there! For my pre-op I was lucky and did it all in one day. I saw the nutritionist, had an EKG, did a stress test, chest X-ray, and blood work. I didn't do a psych eval or some of the other stuff some docs require. Hope the info helps. Good luck to you! TPG
greytz 4 Posted August 19, 2009 Blood work, psych eval, chest x-ray, EKG, letter from PCP and I had to get special clearance from my heart doctor due to a heart condition. I also had to have a heart doctor on standby during my surgery. If you have any special conditions, you may have to do something like that and get an extra clearance. desperateinDE 0 Posted August 19, 2009 I did upper endoscopy (oh joy) outpatient...then the day before surgery (inpatient) I had blood work, EKG, dietician and Pictures (yup pictures in my bra and panties, how humiliating!)
ruthpets 80 Posted August 19, 2009 I had to see a cardiologist (had to do a holter, echocardiogram, stress test), a pulmonologist (breathing test & chest x-ray), endocrinologist, psychologist, nutritionist, and get an endoscopy; when that was complete, my gp has to review and give letter of medical clearance. Also had to do the usual hospital pre-sur. stuff. Did not have to do sleep study - I have no sleep apnea and did not have to do barium swallow.
new_journey4me 1 Posted August 19, 2009 I'm in the process now... Cardiologist, pulmonologist, psychologist, and nutritionist. Already had blood work done.
BooCakes 0 Posted August 19, 2009 Thanks everyone. I should have clarified, not the test from the surgeon to get their approval that you are OK for the surgery, but after you have done all them tests, and all the insurance requirements and have surgery scheduled, you go to the hospital for pre-operative tests right before surgery...I was wondering what all they do then. Thanks for all the help and input!!!! Boo
