Greetings! Newbie from Cali

Recommended Posts

Greetings! I am new here and really appreciate reading through all of the threads. This site has more information than I could have dreamed of!

I am trying to get banded in the next few weeks, as I'm between jobs. I want to have the banding complete before I start a new job in early Sept. My insurance won't cover, so I don't need to deal with the approvals.

I started going through the Weight Loss Centers, but became disheartened by delays and the fact that the surgery and medical procedures are done in Beverly Hills. I'm now starting with Dr. Quilici in Burbank, which is very convenient for me. I hope I can get through the process soon enough!

I already started the pre-op diet recommended by Weight Loss Centers, but I bet it will be different for Dr. Quilici. Oh well, whatever I need to do.

I am very optimistic the band will work for me. I am good about following a healthy diet when I'm home or during the week. I do have big problems over the weekend (I'm out of town most weekends) and when I travel for business. The restriction of the band should prevent me from binging when I'm away from home. Last year I traveled 80% and gained 50 pounds

I look forward to participating in the discussions as I go through this journey. Thank you to you all, as you're comments have been incredibly valuable.

I just joined this group as well. I am 5 1/2 months post op and Dr. Quilici is my surgeon as well. I really like his office staff. I would recommend having your questions prepared when you see him though. I never asked questions and wished I would have pre op. Like what size band, what kind of band, etc. Not that these really matter in the grand scheme, but most bands have a website where you can track your progress however you have to know your brand, size and serial number. I have noticed that Dr. Quilici and Dr. Tovar (his assistant) never offer up any information that you do not seek out. Very friendly, but not overly informative. Best of luck!
