I'm sure all of you see the commercials for dairy and weight loss 3 servings a day of dairy will help aid in weight loss, Well I'm here to tell you it works. As many of you know I have not seen the scale move for a long long time some of it from my own doing and some of it not..I decided once I got back from Vegas I was going to focus on the 3 a day theory and plus the calicuim is suppossed to help reduce symptoms of PMS so I thought what the heck lets give it a try, I started with 1200 mg of a Calcium supplement to help with the PMS symptoms and then taking my 3 a day servings of dairy, usually a Protein drink in the morning, a yogurt in the afternoon as a snack and a glass of milk before dinner..

I got on the scale this morning and have lost 4 lbs since Monday, I have been doing this religiously since Sept 12, it finally has paid off, , and to top it off my period cam very unexpected this past week, I had ZERO symptoms of PMS and minimal cramping which is huge for me since I have horrible cramps every month and am a raging Bitch the week before my period where the first 2 days I can barely function. I can honestly say I really think it works! Iam now 1 lb from being in the the Century Club!...1 lb from GOAL!!!

Dairy and Weight Loss

Q: What does the science say about dairy's role in weight loss?

A: Clinical studies indicate that dairy foods have a positive effect on weight loss. In fact, research shows including 3 daily servings of milk, cheese or yogurt as part of a reduced-calorie weight loss plan can help adults achieve lose more weight by burning more fat than just by cutting calories with little or no dairy.

* A recent study published in Obesity Research showed that people on a reduced-calorie diet who consumed 3 servings of milk, cheese or yogurt each day lost significantly more weight and more body fat than those who just cut calories while consuming little or no dairy.

Q: How/why do dairy foods help you lose more weight and burn more fat?

A: The mix of nutrients found in dairy foods, especially Calcium, may be responsible for helping the body break down and burn fat. Studies have reported that dairy foods exert a significantly greater effect on body weight and fat loss than calcium supplements. While more research is needed to fully understand the dairy and weight loss connection, the unique nutrient package in dairy may be a key contributor to dairy's superior effect. In particular, the distinctive Proteins in dairy may explain the greater weight and fat loss when dairy is included in a reduced-calorie diet.

Q: Is 3-A-Day of Dairy all you need to lose weight?

A: No. Losing weight requires cutting the calories taken in and boosting the calories used through exercise. No matter how people choose to cut calories, they can harness the power of dairy by enjoying 3 servings of milk, cheese or yogurt each day.

Q: Do all dairy foods help you lose weight?

A: Most of the studies conducted to date included milk, cheese or yogurt, including fat free, lowfat and regular varieties. Due to the role calcium and dairy Protein are believed to play in weight loss, milk, cheese and yogurt products must contain at least 20% of the Daily Value for calcium and 10% of the Daily Value for protein to meet the 3-A-Day and weight loss qualifications.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
