Any Challenge Ideas

Recommended Posts

hey

i was just sitting here wondering what we could do to have more fun as july banders. i thought we could do a challenge. it should not be a report pounds lost challenge though. i thought we could do it for a month and switch up the challenge monthly.

would anyone like to do it? if so share your challenge ideas so we can start asap. or maybe we could do a mini-challenge for august then start another on sept. 1st.

keep in mind these challenge can be any and everything.

I think if we do a challenge, it should be more on the mechanics of the band. Like an exercise challenge or a Water challenge. I think if we can get the mechanics down, then the weight loss kind of takes care of itself.

Anyone else have thoughts on this?

And where is everyone? We have lots of MIA's. Juniper comes to mind... there were lots of us!

That sounds like fun! I agree with you, I don't think it should be a "pounds lost" challenge but rather some aspect of healthy living with the band.

Love this idea! Count me in!

I like the Water idea...having such a hard time getting mine in with the small amount i can drink at a time, waiting before and after meals, etc...

or maybe a Protein challenge? that's another tough one to get used to since we have to get in such a large amount everyday.

Count me in! I also like the idea of a living with the band challenge versus pounds

My two biggest challenges right now are getting in Water and exercise. A challenge around either of these would definitely interest me!

So how are we going to do this? We could have a separate thread for each challenge. Water challenge thread and exercise challenge thread. Then will everyone post daily their totals or just set a goal or what? What are your thoughts? I agree.. those two (water and exercise) are definately the hardest for me!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
