Hint for drinking soda..

I also don't want to take a chance on ruining my band or my pouch. It's funny how easy it was for me to give up my diet pepsi vanilla addiction! I gave it up right after my surgery 8 months ago. I don't miss it at all.

I was in wonderland when I found all those other beverages out there that I had always overlooked! Crystal light, Naked juice, Bolthouse, Vitamin Water and Sobe! I just love all the choices. I never would have tried any of these prior to getting banded.

Ladies, try all the other non carbonated stuff out there, it's wonderful and good for you. What has pop every done for us but get us fat?? I am doing all I can to not be fat anymore and giving up pop is one of the easiest things.

I got banded on July 28th and haven't touched any carbonated drinks since before my pre-op started. Don't have any desire to, either.

I have followed my doctor's instructions for the most part, except for this. I am 100% addicted to PepsiOne (nothing else will do). During my pre-op I almost went to the hospital I was having such horrible caffeine withdrawal. The doctor told me I was just having an episode, but allowed me to have a PepsiOne (nothing else will do ). BAM my headache went away, and all was well.

Well, I am now over 7 months post-op and I have a PepsiOne (nothing else will do) every night. I let the fizz go down, but relish in my ONE treat! I drink over 100oz of Water a day, and NEVER had a pop (YES, silly midwesterner, it's a POP dammit) cause any damage to me or the band.

I started having one nightly (geesh I feel like I'm confessing a torrid affair :)) about 3 months ago, and told my doctor about it about 3 weeks ago. He told me that he wish I wouldn't have one, but it was mainly because he wanted me to drink as much Water as possible and to avoid the caffeine. He told me not to worry about the carbonation (as long as I let the majority of fizz go down) hurting my band.

Having said that, I have VERY LITTLE Fluid in my band (2cc) and this is what he told to me. I know pop is forbidden by many doctors, and please don't take my situation for anything but what I do.

I'm sorry, but I work out at the gym like a fiend, watch my diet like a micromanager, and drink water until I feel like I'm going to drown. I don't feel as if ONE diet pop, correction, one FLAT diet pop is gonna kill me. Just my .02

I think is it safe to say that most everyone here has certain foods that are addictive for them. Some people have soda or sweets. For me it was chips. I'm pretty proud when I can have a handful and then just walk away. I suppose not everyone can do this with addiction. Alcohol and drugs .... you can't have just one drink or one hit of cocaine. It's a life long journey we are on and it is very individual.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
