Erin, you need to get with your support group via your surgeon, that way they can help you find someone close to your age range or at least your goal. The other thing is that you have to remember you just had surgery, and your body will rebel and hold on to weight if you push too hard too fast. Please honey, take it slow... I know the minds of the youth is to get things done yesterday but you have got to give yourself time. This band is not a quick fix, and I know you know that, sometimes people who don't rest enough will hold on to weight, as that has happened to me, it not just food intake. Believe me if you follow this you will reach your goal in no time...

First of all, the only way you are going to fail at this is if you self-sabotage by drinking milkshakes or something crazy like that. It is TOTALLY NORMAL not to lose until after you get to good restriction. Hang in there!! And, stop with the negativity!!

I felt frustration during Bandster Hell too -- and when I've plateaued in the past. But, why don't you take a look at my blog -- I just put up some photos that will give you an idea of the kind of progress you are going to make in the future.

This IS going to work!! Start believing in it -- and I totally agree with AbingdonGirl -- some group (or private . . I'm a big proponent of it!) therapy would really help you to get through this!

Can't wait to see what you are posting 1-2 months from now when you see what your band will help you accomplish!

Best wishes,

Catherine

It took time for the weight to go on; it will take time for the weight to come off.

You just had surgery, and you most likely won't start losing weight until you get on more solid foods. Each transition to a food stage usually means a weight gain.

If you start getting it in your head now that you're going to fail, then you will fail.

Weight loss with the lap band is a marathon, not a sprint. Have patience and realize it's going to be a journey. If you can't get yourself in the right frame of mind, you need to find a support group in your area. These forums are great, but they aren't a replacement for face-to-face support.

You're only two weeks out. With the way your posts sound, i think it'd be a good idea to go to a support group.

Erin,

I agree with the other posters. Stop being so hard on yourself. Take this time to heal and adjust to your new lifestyle. You're walking and that's great. Don't you think starting back to school is gonna help? You'll be busier and more active. You'll have less time to focus on food and worry whether or not you're losing weight.

You're gonna do fine! Just relax. Read thru the success stories on here. Other people have been where you are now. They have been successful. You will be too!

As for exercise, walking is good and sounds like your best option right now. Maybe you could find some kind of walking music geared for exercise and download it to your iPod. I think I read something about that on here. It might have been in the Couch to 5K thing but I'm not sure. Maybe ask in the Exercise Threads. If you find something with a good beat and maybe some encouragement, I think it'll help you walk longer. You're probably a bit bored. Change things up. But take it easy too! You're still recovering.

Hang in there!!

TPG

Erin,

Agree with the other posters. Also after reading your other posts, sounds like you get yourself worked up really easy and have anxiety issues. I'd recommend therapy as well to help you sort out your mental anxiety and fears of failure. I've started seeing one and have felt so much relief just talking to someone about it all. She's helping me realize my trigger foods, what causes my anxiety, etc. Just a suggestion.

Good luck to you!

womanizer is a good song by her and circus, someone also said something about dancing to music in my room for 30 mins and I heard about jazzercise or whatever it's called and I know it's time for healing and yeah I'm deffinately bored that could be why, I miss my friends I haven't hung out with my bestie since July 8th and my summer has been very boring, nothing fun to do and the weather in ny just started to get hotter out and I do have anxiety and I worry alot I've always been that way, the closes support groups are a hour and 30 mins away and I was told I was the youngest they've banded and everytime I went to a class or a appt. I have never seen anyone my age and no one suggest to meet up with any one so hmh, but I'm really bored and my summer really sucks

thanks (: I really don't know, she doesn't really have a cell phone and no money to buy minutes, she don't even call me but she's always at her sisters or baby sitting or with her boyfriend she did tell me she misses me and we might hang out on Tuesday or Wednesday aftter I see my surgeron but I guess I really haven't seen anyone because they don't want to hang out which is tough but anyways I can exercise too and I shouldn't lift anything over 20 pounds just to be safe but I have no clue what I'd like to do for exercises, think I'll just stick to walking for now and 2 pound weights

Oh I forgot that someone said something about school, yeah the teachers usually keep us busy and we sit most of the day but have 5 mins in between classes and I usually speed walk to my classes and some of my classes will be up stairs and I don't walk up them, I like to get up them as fast as possible so no one gets mad at me. Gym Is every other day and sometimes she really works us but I really like my gym teacher, and I was thinking that a few weeks after school starts I'll go to the weight room to walk and maybe sometimes use the eliptical machine. And the whole cosmetology thing, is at a different school called Boces or CV-Tec and it's a longish walk to get from the bus to the class and I brought one of those step counters to school one day and I walked over 1000 steps so that's good so being at school and doing something from 5-3 should help me with a steady or just help me with my weight loss

Yeah, I know what you mean, I teach high school and am off in the summer and I don't have a lot of people I hang out with. But I know as soon as I get back to work in a two weeks I will be so busy I wouldn't be thinking about how much I weigh or food I can't eat, all I will know is that my clothes will start to fit looser and looser and that is something to look forward to. You are doing great, keep up the good work... and Yes you will get there before you know it.

If you set unrealistic expectations, you will fail at meeting them.

Research and set reasonable expectations. Expecting to have some change when you're only 2 weeks post-op, in my opinion, is unrealistic. Do some see a loss then? Yes, but MANY do not.

Do the work, the tool will hopefully do its job helping, and you will see results. If you expect too much, you'll end up self-sabotaging and that is counter-productive.

thanks (:

people already say im looking thinner

i have a realistic goal and that is to be at 185 whenever i hit it. then when i hit it ill set another mini goal

im not expecting the band to make me thin over night

at least i feel happier now and when i have people like you guys, you help out alot.

i will get to my goal when i get to it, im in no hurry, like many said, when i get good restriction it will begin to work.

i do have a band that has a fill when they put it in, so i have little restriction but not enough.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
