what the heck is wrong with me!!!

Recommended Posts

Ok here goes...............I am hungry morning, noon, and night!!!

No it is not head hunger.......Stomach growls, headache, etc!

I was banded April 20th was hungry by the second day.........had a fill in June, was still hungry, went back 2 weeks later because something got suck, and had to be completely unfilled for 6 weeks. Just got filled again 3 weeks ago. I have no restriction, can eat everything. This is a nightmare, all I am doing is dieting, not losing any weight either. I hurt my foot and shoulder do to a fall, so I can not exercise for at a month doctor said.

Not do for another fill till September.

I know this is just a aid, but it is not aiding me at all.

I just wish I had some restriction, just a little.

Oh I have a 10cc band and 2.5 fill.

Going to Texas at end of October to see son and family. They saw me a week before surgery, was hoping to surprize them with some weight loss.

PLEASE HOPE ME GET INTO THE RIGHT FRAME OF MIND .

Thanks all

You don't have enough fill yet. You need to be patient is all.

I have a 14 cc band and I didn't get restriction until fill 5 which happened 7 months out. Unfortunately it was during the last half of my last semester at nursing school and I freaked out. I choked on EVERYTHING. So I had a slight unfill the next month. Then my next fill (and after finals) I finally FINALLY hit the green zone; a mere 9 months after surgery. I have lost over 2/3 of my weight since that day.

Many docs feel slow fills are preferable to aggressive ones (you can google it if you want, partly related to esophageal spasms) and while the debate is ongoing, I can say that my doc and his philosophy worked well for me.

The band isn't a race...I plan on keeping it for a long time.

So the problem is with your expectation and I understand that. I thought we'd get the band and hunger would be gone. It doesn't work that fast, though. And hitting the right "fill" level is a process. But it will happen. You just need to let it.

You definitely need more of a fill. I was in the same baot as you but we can go in once a month and he would give me 1cc each time. In May, I was up to 10cc's and finally got good restriction. I went back July 29th and only let him give me .5 since I was still somewhat having good restriction. I find that now - I can hardly eat during the day but can usually eat a decent size dinner. September is just around the corner - good luck!

Thank you very much! It's hard to be patient but it will happen for you and you may find, like I did, that slower is better. I trusted my doc, although sometimes it was HARD! Hang in there!

i thought i was the only one feeling like this...

I'm just over a month out, and I've been hungry since about 2 weeks post op...now i have very little restriction, get VERY hungry too....I try keeping meals to the 3-4 oz like he said (so that i would be ready for the fill) but shit, if I do that, i'm STARVING...so i eat a little more than the 3-4oz...

They told us this would happen (my doc office did anyways)...my first fill is less than 2 weeks away and i truly wish it was sooner...i'm looking forward to having some restriction!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
