I can seenm to eat anything. Yes, I have lost 15 lbs so far but I am surprised how much I can eat. Will this change when I get my 1st adjustment?

You are currently in bandster hell. You seem to have no restriction, and this is the time where you need to use your willpower to follow the rules and only eat small amount at a time.

Hopefully it will get better after the first fill, but that's not a guarantee. It often takes a few fills before you hit your sweet spot.

Good luck!

I was banded a day after u (july 17) and I feel the same exact way! I can eat anything now cause everything goes down...Sometimes I forget that I even have the lap band inside of me! the other day I ate and drank at the same time cuz I really forgot bout the band...I feel reg again...in the beginning when I was healing I was never hungry but now, 4get about it...I still eat in small portions but I find that Im not satisfied..I do believe that after a few fills everything will be different. I guess we gotta be patient and try 2 follow the rules as best as possible

i feel the same way! I was banded 7/7 and I can eat ALMOST anything...lettuce (esp iceburg) and rice are not my friends....even with the very little restriction i have (no fill yet...less than 2 weeks)...

I'm just ready to NOT feel hungry....you know? Of course you all know...lol

Here's to getting fills (and feeling full)!

I was banded on July 29th and I can eat just about anything too. I have been watching what I have been eating and counting calories. I try to eat about 800 calories a day and 70 grams of Protein. I don't have any restriction yet, but my appetite has decreased, which I can guess is from 3 weeks of a liquid diet. I am getting my first fill on Sept 3rd and can't WAIT!!! I am very happy to be down 17lbs. My goal is to be down 20lbs before my first fil.

I was banded July 31st and my first fill is also September 3rd. I am also finding I can eat anything, however my diet has mainly been canned tuna and chicken with miracle whip and wheat thins. I did have a bit or two of pizza it was awesome. I figure 4 bites is better than 4 slices huh? I also had a grilled chicken strip and it went down fine of course I chew each bite atleast 30 times. The strange thing is I had mashed potatoes and gravy today it messed with my stomach. I figured it would go down easier than anything else. But yes, I am hungry and too cannot wait for a fill, It hasn't been too hellish for me yet except during the liquid phase, luckily my doc only keeps you on that for 1 week. Good luck to you all.

Hi to all the newly banded folks!

Please, please, please BE CAREFUL...your body is still healing from the surgery at the 2 - 5 weeks point, and eating what you were able to handle before surgery could cause some serious problems.

Please be careful - I am familiar with "bandster hell" having been there myself - it took two fills before I felt sufficient restriction to help me cut down my portions. I lost very slowly during that time, but because I was also making an effort to watch my portion sizes and eat things that are good for me (emphasizing Protein first, then veggies, then carbs) I was also retraining my palate.

Be sure you are getting in enough Water between meals - review your doctor's and nutritionists' guidelines for how to eat after you are banded, and start easing your way into a regular form of exercise that you'll grow to enjoy. I'm just over halfway to my goal of losing 110 pounds, and I walked off the first 55 pounds. Nothing too crazy, just walking whereever I could, whenever I could...the more you move, the more you'll lose, and it can also help to distract you from wanting to eat.

Congrats on making good starts - you are all doing well so far! You made a quality decision to be banded for your quality of life and your health, and you will succeed at this.

Please feel free to PM me if you have specific questions, but since I'm not a medical professional, I can only share my experiences. I'll probably sound like a broken record when I say again and again "ask your doc" but it's really for the best. Stay in touch with them as often as you need to in order to find your answers and feel comfortable with the phases of your journey.

Keep up the good work!

Wow, I was amazed to read that some people who just got banded not long ago were eating regularly. That would scare the heck out of me! I am able to only do the liquid diet still since it has only been 5 days since my surgery. My only problem is still the bloatedness and how to get rid of it.

Your stomach will be swollen for a while after surgery. But you also need to fart  Walk around, get those bowels moving and get some gas out! You'll feel so much better

This is SO me! I feel really guilty because I seem to be able to eat anything and everything! I haven't had my first fill yet and while I was on liquids I lost weight (of course!) but now I am not sure if I still am or not? I don't own a scale. I know it will just depress me if I see that I am not losing weight so I decided to put the scale buying off for a bit.

However... I know that I am eating more than I should. It's still less than I used to eat but.... If I had any willpower I wouldn't be in this predicament darn it!!!

I just hope that I don't have major problems after my first fill. I AM thinking about it everytime I eat. That is a start right? LOL

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
