OMG!! You are so lucky...I got banded on 8/10/09 and have about a 4 inch scar in the middle of my stomach...it is awful

Did you also have a single incision surgery? When I had looked at other doctors that do the single incision in my area, I was told that there would be about a 4 inch scar in the middle of my stomach and that's why I decided to go the traditional way. I hope everyone starts catching onto this new way though! I'd think there would be more soreness this way however because they had to do a hell of a lot of manipulating to get everything in there.

I have 2.5 feet of scars across my chest from a previous operation and they do fade, although you may have to think of it in terms of years rather than months. They will probably never go away entirely. Vitamin E definitely helps. Don't buy the really expensive cosmetic creams because the concentration is quite low. Get a bottle of the gelcaps from the health food/grocery store and pop them with a needle and apply the oil directly. It's cheaper and more effective.

If anybody asks just tell them you got the scars wrestling with bears.

I don't mind the scars...probably because they get lost within my childbirth war scars aka stretch marks LOL ...you can see my port one is the biggest one on the right....I have 5 total but 2 of them are harder to see than the others.

There is a pic of my scars in my progress pics album (link below)...

(I don't know how to post a thumbnail so if anyone can tell me that would be great!!)31927-albums2977-picture22186.html

I am 4 months on and i had 4 small and one larger for the port. I am very fair skin and the large one is very visible and the one above the belly button is also visible. the surgen made the cuts in the crease of where the rolls were so they should enhance my six-pack once the weight is gone. haha.

I expect the larger scar will fade but always be visible. Looks kind of cool like I got in a knife fight. :w00t:

So I was just wondering, out of curiosity, if your incisions left any visible scarring and if it had faded any. I was in the store yesterday and saw scar cream and wondered if it was worth using or not. I'm not personally all that concerned with the scarring aspect, as I just allowed myself to have a band placed in my stomach through my bellybutton (;)!) but I just wondered if anyone has had success with hiding the scar.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
