melodicone 0 Posted August 15, 2009 Ok so, I haven't owned a scale in absolute AGES. Had my two week checkup on the 4th so I decided I needed one. Went to Bed Bath & Beyond and got a cool round glass digital scale that was $50. Got home and jumped on to see how close it was to the doctor's scale. Only .2 above theirs! I weighed using it for the weigh in last week and all was great still. Well, I'm going out of town next week so I thought I'd pop on this morning *checks clock* err, yesterday morning. Well, it told me I was 402.. then said ERR. Um, I went from 373 to 402 in 5 days? I think not. Got off, back on, and it said 359. Now it's stuck at 341 and will not budge higher. I even held my nephew who weighs at least 30 lbs and nothing, still 341. Is there anyway I can fix it? I took the battery out and put it back in. My parents bought it for me and like I said, it was $50 and now it's not working. I don't think we have the reciept anymore and they'll be PISSED. Ahhh! Ideas?
jenrobbar951 0 Posted August 15, 2009 I had the same problem with our scale at home. It is a square glass one and from time to time, it messes up too. Infact, one time I got on it and it said I weight like 164 pounds......I just about died.......but then I realized, there was no possible way that I went from 260+ pounds to 164 overnight. HAHA! That is a horrible feeling to look at it and have it lie to you! ERR! Sounds like you may need to invest in a new scale (may be one that is the same model so that your parents dont realize it broke?).......or try it again another time and perhaps it will "magically" work......or, take it as a sign that you just werent meant to be getting on a scale at this point in time, although people like to monitor their progress. It is only natural. Good luck with the scale!!!
melodicone 0 Posted August 15, 2009 Hehe yeah I know shouldn't be weighing, but I only do it once a week. I'll probably just make up a number when my mom asks this week, but I wore some jeans today I haven't worn since surgery and they weren't painted on today! Woo! I'm going home the 1st of September anyway and I'll have Curves there so I'll just keep the weight-loss on the DL from the parents til then. And until I get a spare $50 for a replacement. And yes! Evil evil scales when they lie to you! At first when it said 359 I had a fleeting thought of, "Hey, it could happen.. Water weight and and.." But I knew it spoke LIES.
jenrobbar951 0 Posted August 15, 2009 That is great about the jeans!!! I, like a closet case hoarder, have kept all of my "skinny" jeans that I wore nearly 10 years ago. LOL. Can you believe that? I cry when I look at them, so they are put away in a box in my closet....somewhere amongst the "I wish I could wear these" clothes. I bet it is a great feeling to put those jeans on!! I cant wait to be able to slide into a "normal" size of jeans and not these size 24 "stretchy" Walmart jeans. And besides, what your Mom doesnt know (in this case....), wont hurt her.
melodicone 0 Posted August 15, 2009 Honestly, no I don't think that's sad at all! I think it helps to have motivation! I've always been fat so all through high school and college (I'm 25) I missed out on the cute clothes I always wanted to wear but couldn't. So my cousin, who's 14, bought me a pair of jeans from American Eagle that are a size 18 as my 'inspiration' pants. I swear I love that kid SO much sometimes! It's tragic that they only go up to just above my knees now but one day (fairly) soon they'll be fitting!
jenrobbar951 0 Posted August 15, 2009 That is AWESOME!! What a great idea! I think I may have to borrow your "inspiration" idea.....sorry, guess I am too lame to think of one on my own. HAHAHAHA! No really, I think I may dig out a cute shirt that is a few sizes smaller as inspiration. Or perhaps, I will buy something inexpensive, but really, really cute. Something that I normally wouldnt think twice about buying because I was "too fat" and hang it up in my room as a reminder of the cause. I really like that idea! Of course.....I still gotta wait until I am approved by the insurance company before I do anything. Hope you have a great Saturday!!!
melodicone 0 Posted August 15, 2009 Yeah, she's my favorite cousin, and was so excited when I told her I was having the surgery. Her first words besides, that's awesome, was "OMG When you get skinny we MUST go to Macy's and shop shop shop!" Since I get kinda pissy now when I try to go clothes shopping! Then about 2 weeks after that she came up here with a box all wrapped up in metallic turquoise paper (my fav color in case you couldn't tell! hah) and it was the jeans. We're not a real big 'hugging' family but she told me that I'd be in them lookin' hot before long and gave me a great big hug. And over-emotional me with the liquid diet phase burst into tears. I really think you should do it, I see them every day hanging on the handle bars of my treadmill so it makes me go "oh hell, get on.." Also, really hope you get approved soon for surgery!! 4 weeks out I can honestly say, best thing I've ever done for myself! Have a good Saturday to you too! greytz 4 Posted August 15, 2009 Bed, Bath and Beyond should replace the scale receipt or not. Take it in and explain it was a gift. They will usually replace but they won't usually return for cash.
Mimilou2004 13 Posted August 15, 2009 I was going to post when I saw that Greytz said just what I was going to. BB&B is really great about knowing their own stock and replacing stuff for you.
jenrobbar951 0 Posted August 15, 2009 I agree...atleast try to return it. Couldnt hurt. Besides, you wouldnt end up lying to your Mom afterall about current weights and you wouldnt have to come up with the $50 too! A win ALL AROUND! I have some money put aside for my "incredible" inspiration. I really love that your cousin is soooo supportive!!!! That is sooo wonderful! melodicone 0 Posted August 16, 2009 See this just shows how tired I was this morning when I was posting at 2am. This never crossed my mind! Thanks greytz and Mimi! I'm going to the doctor on Tuesday since I'm worried I might have an infection in two of my incisions so I'll do it then since I'll be in the city where I got it, and I'm going Camaro shopping. Fun fun! I have stitches poking out of 3 of the 5 incisions and 2 are kinda red looking and one that was all the way closed now is opened back up just a smidge so I'm worried. I'm probably being paranoid, but better safe than sorry.
jenrobbar951 0 Posted August 16, 2009 LOL...I dont know why I didnt think of trying to return it either. It is a great idea of course. I too, must have been tired and my brain wasnt functioning very well....yet, here I am again. Sending a message at a quarter past midnite. Some people just dont learn....and I suppose I am one of them. Just wanted to say that I hope your incisions are just doing what is expected and no infections are present. They sound pretty nasty, but that is just my non-icky side coming out. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!!!
