Don't become obsessed with the bathroom scale.

Weigh in once a week at the same time, same day (i.e. Sunday, 9:00pm)

Greek-style yogurt is your friend.

Celery is not your friend.

Small bites, chew really well.

Join a support group.

Moisturize your skin.

Avoid alcohol.

Take it slow and easy; be patient with yourself.

3 meals a day and one snack and 3 Protein Shakes rest is Fluid and have a half cup for the meals, 1,000-1,200 cals or less or what? And walk twice a day or walk once a day and play DDR or the wii, do squats or lunges, and do arm exercises, too much?

Remembering that the band is not a "magic bullet" that it will still take really hard work to be successful.

Take one day at a time and one lb at a time

First and foremost, to me this was a lifestyle change, not another diet.

So there's no rules, no plan, no program. I eat what I want to eat every day. I dont give a toss about carbs or Protein, I just eat healthy. Some days are better than others. Its totally killed my food obsession. If I eat Cookies all day it wont kill me for one day.

With that in mind, I also didnt give a toss how fast it came off. You cant have it both ways, but I think trying for fast weight loss week in, week out is a sure fire way to be "on a diet" which of course means eventually you'll be "off your diet". When in actual fact its the middle ground that the on/off merrygoround never addresses, that is the important part to get right.

I took up exercise and I stuck with it. I run for 45 minutes most days.

But most of all, I think for a while there, my lifestyle and routines got out of control due to all the pressures of life, particularly motherhood and that I'm not really meant to be a "fat person" in the sense that many obese people are. I mean, my eating habits were as bad as nearly anyone's mentioned here but I never got to anything like 300lb. I can maintain quite well on up to 2000 calories a day. I'm naturally athletic. So I think I'm really pretty lucky to have a pretty fast metabolism and more of a natural tendency to stay at a heatlhy weight than many do, and I dont have anything like PCOS which tends to lend itself towards those metabolic disorders and difficulty controlling weight.

So attitude and a bit of good luck would be my summary.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
