em2 0 Posted August 14, 2009 I have been having some pain around my port area. It only hurts when I am active or when I twist in a certain way. I just had a fill and my doc said that everything looked fine. Is it just from the surgery? I am 5 weeks out. My port is above and to the right of my belly button...on my upper abdomen....right on a fat roll (sorry, TMI?) Therefore, when I bend over or even sit on the toilet, there is a little uncomfortable feeling (maybe I shouldn't say pain). Will this go away? Does it take awhile for you to stop noticing your port? karenv 0 Posted August 14, 2009 Hi em2, just want to reassure you that you are not alone. I'm about 10 weeks out and I still have occassional port issues. My incision is dead center on my fat roll and kept getting in the way. It does get better with time. I still wake up every morning with what I call "port pressure" and after I exercise I can feel it "ache". Saw my dr today for a fill and mentioned it to him and he said I'm fine. Keep us posted on how you do
em2 0 Posted August 14, 2009 Karenv, Thank you so much for your reply. I am glad to hear that it gets better and that I am not alone. I get worried easily and always think that something is wrong.....so thank you again for calming my nerves. I will keep you all posted on my progress and please do the same....I would like to know when this will go away.
John_Yeti 0 Posted August 14, 2009 I know i had some discomfort after my surgery with my port area, and i still do, but that is due to exercise and other activities that work or stretch my muscle in that area. So, it's nothing uncommon to have these pains. But i guess, i feel your pain...
moonbeam 1 Posted August 14, 2009 Hey, I have that too. My doc told me it's scar tissue forming around my port. Sometimes the body reacts to foreign bodies like that. They call it a capsule. It makes it a bit harder for fills because they have to put more pressure on it to get through it.
em2 0 Posted August 15, 2009 Moonbeam, did your doctor say anything else? I am wondering if I will always have this pain. Is there anything that I can do or should do?
moonbeam 1 Posted August 15, 2009 Moonbeam, did your doctor say anything else? I am wondering if I will always have this pain. Is there anything that I can do or should do? The pain for me has subsided. Every now and then I get some twinges. The doc told me it wasn't a big deal and that it was normal. I would ask yours though, everyone is different and that may not be what's going on with you. Better safe than sorry.
