October 2009 Surgery Date?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am due to be banded October 6th. I am on my liquid diet. I thought it would be harder than this, but it's not so bad. I am eating cream Soups, sugar free Jello and pudding, Sugar free fudgecicles, apple sauce, and light yogurt. I am putting Unjury in my soups. This helps make them a little more filling and it actually makes them taste creamier. I use the unflavored one. I even make ice coffee with skim milk, unjury, and equal. Not bad at all. :seeya: I have already lost 6 lbs.

Good luck to you, and remember. This is the beginning of your new life. No one said it is going to be easy, but just never give up. Dig those heals in and you can do anything you put your mind to.

I got my call on Thursday 9/24/09 -You have been APPROVED! Now I'm kind of scared--> Pre Op Diet :blushing: Then Surgery on 10/30/09. I didn't think I would ever hear you have been Approved. Only one week and I get the call. WOW.. It's like a DREAM. I'm sooooo ready for a change in my life. I pray that everything goes well with all you other lap banders. We can do this together. :seeya: Many Blessings to you all.

Good Luck to you!! That's just a couple days away!

As far as Protein Shakes, I bought what my support group recommended: Premiere shakes from costco in chocolate. I haven't tried them yet since I start my liquid diet on the 1st...but I hear they're good, and have 30 grams of Protein, low fat and low carb.

All the best!

Holly - I like the Premier chocolate Protein shakes...you can get them at Costco...I've been drinking them for the past month + and am so far not tired of them :smile2:.

Nooshie - have you started your liquid diet yet? Mine starts on 10/8 (which happens to be my husbands birthday :smile2:)..honestly, I'm a bit nervous about it since I've been "practicing" eating as if I have a band - I don't take in 1000 calories a day now...I'll be the only person around to gain on it, LOL.

HDMama, I haven't started the liquid diet yet. I start on October 1 (two weeks prior to surgery). But I've gone out and bought my premiere shakes, just have to pick up the yogurt, Soup and sugar free popsicles (which don't last in my house!)

I'm going to a big ol' party this weekend for my aunt's 75th birthday...bit ol' Armenian celebration...and I'll be on my liquid diet. But it's okay....I've wrapped my head around it! Let the games begin!!! Let me know how it's going for you (with your husband's bday and all). :smile2:

Good luck at your party...my poor husband - not only am I starting my liquid diet on his bday - but I'm actually being banded on our 9th wedding anniversary :smile2:.

I think we go to the same support group meeting (Dr. Q., right?)....

Yes! were you at the last meeting? have I met you in person? Are you on our Banded Around Burbank group on Lapbandtalk? (I'm terrible with names and such so forgive me if we've met and I just am not putting the screen name with real life).

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
