I made it thru and happy

Recommended Posts

I just got home today. I had surgery on Wed. (Aug. 12, 09). For me it was a breeze. I did have a little pain in my chest that moved to my shoulder. I got out of bed last night and walked the hallways at the hospital and it helped a lot. I am glad that part is over. Im looking forward to my success. To think, I was about to cancel because I was so scared and unsur of myself:thumbup:.

Congratulations! May you have much success in your new journey. I too almost canceled my surgery. For weeks leading up to my surgery I kept questioning myself and my poor husband if I was doing the right thing. Deep down I knew I was doing the right thing, but I still had the little inner fear. Now I'm so glad I went through with the surgery and looking forward to a healthier, happier, and skinnier life with my husband and children.

I am eating my broth which isn't so bad. I'm trying to drink Water but can only drink 2 or 3 sips. i guess as time goes by it will increase.

Good luck, I made it through the surgery a week ago, and at first I made could only take a sip or two for at least three-four days now I can take up to 6oz. at a time. it depends on how much swelling you have during the surgery and that differs per person.

Congratulations lingra I had surgery on August 12th as well, and I'm finally feeling good enough to respond to this site. Day one and two were pretty challenging for me but I did make it through...Thank God. I am still experiencing a lot of gas and some pain, I've been taking my liquid Vicodin faithfully as it really helps me to get back to normal life. I'm not the type of person who sits around a lot but this procedure has made me have to stop and rest. I'm up and about now and I can tell that as each hour goes by I feel better and better. I wish you well on your journey as well as myself. I know that this is was the best decision for me and I would not have changed a thing (outside of the pain..lol). Let's keep in touch.

I didn't consider G2 at that time. Good idea.

I was also banded on yesterday. The procedure went well except he found a hernia and repaired it. I am more sore where the port is than anything else. When I got home I was a little sleepy but all is good. The two days I was on liquids lost 7 pounds.

Well, I'm over being scared. I feeing better by the minute. I have started walking 2 times a day. I have to walk, to help with the gas pains I'm having. I walked about 2 mile this morning and feel great. I can only eat 3 or 4 spoons of broth. But otherwise this went better than I thought.

Bostonlady,

I had surgery yesterday and I'm doing well. Walking is very important after surgery, it helps with the gas pain. My doc also put a patch behind my ear before surgery for nausea. It worked very very well. Don't worry about the surgery you'll do great. I've only lost a pound so far but I know it was the best decision I ever made!

Thanks you Kiaa, my doctor makes us stay over night, I've heard you can't lay flat you need a recliner, is that right? Congrats on your new journey, Sept 22 is right around the corner

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
