I completely agree! I knew after the seminar he would be my choice.

He put in my band on 8/6 and repaired a hiatal hernia. I am thrilled with my choice. My recover has been going extremely well, and he cleared me for all soft foods today.

You don't happen to have a website or phone # for him, do you? I am in the very early stages of finding a doctor.

Dr. Nick is the best in the Dallas area! I drive an hour just to get to his office for every one of my visits because I believe he is the best! He put in my band on 4/1/10 and I couldn't happier! I am 118 pounds down and I only have about 40 more to go! His website is nicholsonclinic.com. It has all the info that you need to attend his seminar and get started on your path to bariatric surgery. He is extremely helpful in choosing which surgery you want and making it happen. Also, the other people who work in his office are great. The nurse, Bea, always remembers me and is super sweet and helpful as is Brittany his PA who does all of his fills.

I noticed on Dr. Nicholson's bio that it says "does not provide outpatient surgery". Does that mean that he makes you spend the night at the hospital after having lap band? Anybody know???

Omg!! I love him!! lol!!! and no not because he is helping me get rid of a problem I been struggling with for a long time like someone suggested all newbiews do. I really like him ( and believe me is hard for me to like a doctor I think most of them are snobs) because I think he genuinely cares about his patients. He does not make me feel unconfortable, or stupid,or anything like that. I'm 2 months post-op and have seen him twice for my two fiils and once I saw his assistant wich she is really nice too. On my surgery date I had it on the park-forest hospital the way they treated me could not have been better too. I'm such a big baby and I was happy with everything. His staff I think likes him alot too my nurse even said Dr. Nick is such a sweetheart. Most importantly he has been named top Dallas Doctor by D Magazine five years in a row, and he is the director of the bariatric surgey department of Plano Baylor Hospital. Do your ouw research he is a really good Doctor. I highly recommend him =) let me know what you decide. I also suggest you go to one of his seminars in Baylor Plano.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
