Stay strong...yes my first thought was also to find a new doctor that will go to bat for you...but like you said it is all about being comfortable.

I kinda know how it feels. I was approved and two days later the doctor denied me becuase they won't be taking the 3rd party biller that my insurance carrier uses.

I was so upset and crying so I know how you feel. I really did not want to go about and find a new doctor as I am very comfortable with the surgeon I will be using.

Well in the long run they worked it out with my ins carrier and I go in 09/04/09.

Just stay strong and hopefully it will all work out for you soon and you will get the surgery.

Let us know how it goes.

Hoping for a fast appeal and approval for you!!!

I just found out I was denied by Aetna. I am so upset. Now I have to go through an appeal process. I just want to crawl in a hole. I haven't rec'd the official letter yet, but just got off the phone with the insurance company. They said my doctor's office did not provide the surgical prep regimen. That they need that and the fastest way to get appealed is the surgeon to call in a do a "peer to peer" with the insurance company. I called the doctor's office and they don't know what the surgical prep regimen is and the doctor does not do "peer to peer". After several more calls - I have to wait for the official letter and send in a letter of appeal. I am sick to my stomach. I am very upset that my surgeon can not make a phone call on my behalf. Is this going to happen for me???? I can't quit crying.....

I am in Canada and with the government health care system WE have, I was denied because I am toooo healthy. Go figger. You surely don't want government run health care in the US....just ask a Canadian.

However, I am being banded on Monday the 24th at a private clinic here in Toronto; I paid out of pocket. But I understand that for those who need to finance, there are several options available. For me, it is a dandy tax deduction on my tax return for 2009.

I truly hope someone "listens" to you. It is a sad world when we are told we need to gain MORE weight to qualify (my BMI is 42) or develop morbities such as congestive heart failure or diabetes.

My very best to you in your pursuit.......and prayers.

Katie

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
