Hello all,

My name is Claudia and I have been recently banded! ^^

After 2 rejections from my insurance I finally got my approval for surgery and had my Realize band implanted on 8/3 at Cedar Sinai Medical Center in Beverly Hills by Dr. Kai Gregg Nishi.

I am currently on week 2 of a 3 week liquid diet. Week 4 will be mashed/pureed foods and after that will be solids.

So far I am down 11.5 pounds which I am sure is Water weight.

I have a few questions that I will post to the appropriate forum ^^

I do have a blog/vlog that is separate from the blogs here at LBT, however I will see about doing some cross posting if possible.

You can visit me at

Soul Eating

I am eagerly looking forward to learning more and talking with all of you!

Claudia

My god I hope so! I have very little restriction right now so everything liquid is going down very easily and unfortunately I've been having a few higher calorie Soups to keep me from going NUTS. I've evened out at 11.5 but as I always say "hey, weight, is weight. It could be gold or Water, it doesn't matter"

I'm just trying to be patient with myself and heal until I get my first fill and really get down to business

This looks to be a FANTASTIC site. I've already gotten answers and support to my questions!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
