Fallen Off The Progress Train.. HELP!!

Recommended Posts

hi everybody.. i was banded July 17th this year. i started off pretty good. i lost 6 pounds during the week pre-diet. and 24 pounds all together right now. so about 24 pounds in a month.

but my problem is. after the very first week after surgery. i already started eating like i used to.:( :( i really know now that this whole thing is about breaking your own habits and changing your eating ways for good!

i also stopped my Protein supplement after that first week. and i never really take my Vitamins either.

i completely know i really fucked up. and NEED to start all over again. i just really wanted to know if anyone has had the same faults and experience as me.. SO SOON after the surgery.

please share your stories and motivations. i just turned 20. and sometimes i feel like im still a kid and just want to eat whatever i want! ya know?? i just really need some advice. i NEED to get right back on track and do this!!

You and me both girl! We even weigh the same, lol. I was Banded just a week ago and I only lasted 4 days. I'm good when I'm home by myself but as soon as everyone comes home the food comes out. I was leaving the room at first then I nibbled and now I just eat. I'm even hoping I didn't screw anything up in there because I feel indigestion like I never had before. We just need to get back to basics, Water and shakes. The Myoplex is like pudding when you mix it in a blender. Tell me what you think?

Brittany, it's more than simply slipping up like on a diet. The liquids phase is for healing, and it keeps the stomach from churning like it typically does to digest food. If you eat too soon, you could slip your band -- today, next week, next year -- due to its inability to heal right.

Just giving you info to hopefully help you make the right choices.

Catherine, if you're feeling indigestion, you MAY have slipped your band. I would call your doc.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
