Hi Everyone, thanks for the support.

I’m doing two days clear liquid so shakes aren’t an option, but I sure wish they were. LOL Failureisntandoption is right. Today I stayed very busy, kept some typt of liquid in my hands at all times and changed my focus. coffee helped a bunch and so did the naked photos I took of myself last night. ( So I can remember how big I really was.) Have to check in for surgery in the morning at 6:00AM. I’ll keep everyone posted to let you know how it goes.

Hi Yall,

I’m not starving anymore!!! YEA! I went in for surgery this morning at 6:00AM. My doctor is Doctor Spiegal and he was awesome. I was home on my couch by 11:00AM. I had very little gas pain. However, I am really sore at incisions but that’s normal and he gave me liquid pain meds for that. They had me up and walking right after surgery and I think that’s why I’m not as sore. Best part, I’m not hungry anymore. Good Luck everyone.

I am too, I am 4 days in on my liquid diet. I have been keeping busy with SF ice pops and SF Jello to snack on. it is really hard. I am drinking the required 3 a day Protein Shakes too. They help to a certain point. They really don't keep you that satisfied and I find myself drinking Water or chomping on SF ice pops. I also purchased these SF flavor packets from 4c, they are really good. They help flavor the water and they taste great. Shop around for anything SF with low calories and in liguid form, you shoudl be fine.

I think you are talking to me?

I started with a large group that has satelite offices , many surgeons etc... boasting to have the most experience etc.

After my first visit the little voice in my gut told me mmmmmmm something is not right, but I wanted to do this.

AMEN...I cancelled my surgery last year, because the place I went to first was a GROUP center. I went to their REQUIRED first meeting, to learn about the surgeries, and find out all of the info. They wanted you to buy only THEIR shakes, meals, etc, upfront, you had to only use THEIR physical therapist, physch, nutritionist, lab, etc...that was NOT covered my insurance, so I was looking at $2,000 out of pocket...

The whole thing was like an INFO-MERCIAL! Top that off with the Dr being more obese than I am! I have no regrets in NOT having my surgery done there!

I found a much better place that my insurance covers and have really enjoyed working with the whole staff...and I used my Cardio, gyn, special surgeon, lab etc since I am 2 hrs away from the surgery center!

Been a much better ordeal already!

You used Dr Spiegal in Houston? Do you have any information about a support group in the Houston area? I used Dr. Spivak in Houston and love him, but his support group is very far from me. Looking for a support group. Glad everything went good for you. You will be feeling great before you know it, but you do need to rest some.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
