First Fill tomorrow!! 11cc band...

Recommended Posts

Hello!

I am getting my first fill tomorrow! I am very excited! Since I am "empty" right now, I can eat pretty much anything with no problem.. and I have lost nothing more since the liquid phase after surgery..

Anything I should know? I am hoping that this is where the weight loss really begins..and I hope it does! After 3 weeks, I was back in the gym, but still no loss..

I was told to only have Clear liquids a few hours before and 3 days of liquids after (this coming from Dr. Ortiz..I am getting filled here in Maryland).

Also..I have an 11cc band... was is a typical cc you get the first time? I am assuming that is different for everyone?

I am not afraid of needles...more eager than anything!!

Thanks!

Agnes

I was in the same boat about now loosing weight. I had my first fill on 8/10 and I have a 10cc band and my dr. put 2.5cc in my band. To be honest I can feel the difference. I am very full of the little I eat. Then today, I wasn't hungry for Breakfast so i just drank Water and about 10am i had a babybel cheese. My dr told me Clear Liquids for a day then start doing mushy foods like yogurt or cottage cheese.< /p>

I finally got release to excersise and I am goign to start that today. I am not a fan of just walking I need more than that. The fill didn't hurt, and i could feel him putting the saline in and actually fill it get a little big tighter.

Good luck with your fill!

Hello! I just had my first fill yesterday. I also have an 11-cc Realize Band-C. My doc uses a fluoro machine, so I was standing up for this first fill. The NP felt around for my port, sprayed numbing cream, and stuck the needle in. One the needle was through the skin, she did have to "fish around" once or twice to get the port. It wasn't painful, just felt pressure. Then, she put 8cc in the band and had me take a drink. It wasn't painful, just a weird sensation to be able to feel my band tighten around my stomach, and feel the liquid sitting in my esophagus & pouch. It was cool because I could see on the machine that the Fluid wasn't passing through the band. She slowly took out a few cc's at a time until she felt the liquid was passing through the way she wanted it to. That ended up with me being at 4cc (I had none filled during surgery). Overall it wasn't a bad experience, just the anxiety leading up to it. As far as post fill diet, every doc is different so follow their advice. Mine makes me do liquids after the fill for the rest of fill day, the puree food on day 2, soft diet on day 3 and back to regular on day 4.

It has been 9 months and I am going for my first fill on 8/17. I have a 10 cc band in me and I also have to go to xzay to have it done. I do not like needles! I new that I would have to have fills when I got my band, but I still do not like needles! I was told that I will be on liquids for 2 days after.

I was banded June 15, 2009 and only lost 9 pounds the first 2 weeks of surgery. I had my first fill August 5, 2009 and still feel very hungry all the time. I told my doctor about this and the only thing she said was to make healthier choices. Is there a possibility that my band slipped?

My first fill was a few weeks ago and I'm going in again on Aug. 25th for my second fill. My first fill was under fluoro and I got a total of 5 ccs (I also have Realize Band C). I have kind of minimal restriction right now (depending on the food, I can eat up to 2 or 2.5 cups of food at a time...but now and again I can only eat 1 cup) and I'm looking forward to the next fill.

To Becca: Only your doctor can tell you if your band slipped. However, many people still feel very hungry and don't have adequate restriction (or no restriction at all) after the first fill. Have you made an appointment for a second fill? My doctor generally requires 3-4 weeks between fills. Its different for every doctor but since you were only filled a few days ago, even though you don't have the right restriction, your doc will probably have you wait for a 2-3 more weeks at least. If you fill the band too quickly it can sometimes lead to slippage or erosion. Good luck and make your appointment now for your next fill!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
