Hello!

My name is Jamie, and I am an army wife, whos husband is in Iraq. I have decided to take control of my life and health once and for all. I live in Killeen Texas, and will be using Scott and White. Waiting for all the tricare paperwork to start! I just attended the seminar and learned something interesting concerning tricare. The dr. said that tricare is easing the 100# standard, if you have at least one co-morbitity. he said they are now approving BMI of 35 with the co-morbitity. For me I am between 38-39 BMI with very high hypertension and diabetes. Anyways i wish you all the best! look forward to getting to know you!!

armywife,

My son is stationed at Ft Hood also. He just got transfered there from Ft Polk and is recently back from Iraq.

This is a perfect time, while your hubby is gone to make the change. He will be so surprised and you will be able to focus on your weight loss in his absence.

Jessimond,

Scott & White is a Hospital. They have locations in Round Rock & Temple Texas. I'm pretty sure she's talking about the temple locations.

Hi Jamie, Good luck on your journey. I also have tricare. My huband is retired Army. Tricare was very easy to get an approval from. They only require that you are 100lbs over or double your ideal weight and have a secondary condition. They did not require the psch or nutritional counseling. I have a date for June 30th.

Hi,

I am also an Army wife. I actually just got my call from Tricare on Thursday telling me that I was approved. I have Tricare Standard and they have been wonderful. I just did all my tests to get my surgical clearance and I am hoping to get my surgery date this week. I am assuming my surgery will end up being in July or August.

Good Luck!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
