I have a question, I was wondering if anyone has went through the trouble I have in trying to get the lap band paid for by there insurance. I have been trying almost a year and the insurance company says that I have no medical need. Well for one I have battled being over weight all my life. I have tried everything under the sun. I even went to a weight management class for 6 months the insurance company had me do. I completed that now there saying that I stil dont meet the requirments. Now they are saying I have to go see a psychiatrist. I dont know exactly what that means, please has anyone had the same trouble as me. Is that a good thing or moving in the right direction with having to go see a psych. HELP:mad:

Most, if not all insurance companies require a psych. evaluation. I'm not sure if this is what you are referring to.

Probably. I would call the insurance company and find out what exactly the process is. This way it doesn't feel like they are just throwing something else at you. You will know exactly what to expect.

I did not have to fulfill my insurance requirements. I self-paid, therefore eliminating all the hoop jumping. Lucky me though, I'll be making payments on my surgery for as long as it takes to pay off my car loan. It's all worth it though.

What I would do if I were you is find out exactly what your insurance requires. Usually if you go to a surgeon in your network, there will be someone there who can at least help you coordinate everything. Psych evals and various other preop tests are common. There is also usually a BMI requirement (depending on the insurance you have) AND sometimes co-morbidities (again, what those are and how many you must have varies depending on insurance) So I think you need to call your ins and get the particulars

LOL as Failureisn'tanoption just said...

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
