First checkup after surgery--NO FILL!

Recommended Posts

I went for my first checkup today and didn't get a fill. I've been eating about every 4 hours and not getting hungry in between so I didn't get a fill! She told me that sometimes people just don't need a fill. There's a guy that had his surgery the same place I did that hadn't had a fill at all for 3 months. Then he finally needed one. I think that's cool and of course I read about it on this site!

We also set my goal weight today to 180 instead of 145. Interesting. I feel great today!

That's awesome. Feeling great is a good thing! I'm like you...I don't really get hungry. YET, when I went in for my fill appointment, they still wanted to give it to me, even though I"ve been steadily losing weight and not starving. So they shoved in 4cc's. And honestly, not feeling much different. So I'm chugging right along! Good luck. And keep going!!!

I was like that as well. Good call on the goal, you may find that it is a reasonable one. My wife was close to your starting numbers and your goal number. It has worked out well for her.

Great job on your weight loss. This is very encouraging to me. I'm getting banded on september 30th. I wondered if this ever happened. It didn't seem like it, but I'm really hoping it does to me. Why did you change your goal weight? I'm just curious.

I had surgery in March and I have not had a fill, I lost 30 on pre op and 64 since.

As long as I stay away from silider foods I have great restriction and won't get a fill until I stop losing.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
