What happens if you eat too much soup?

Recommended Posts

I just got back last night from eating chicken broth from a chinease place. I ate some... nothing.. ate some more.. nothing.. ate a little more.. then I just decided to stop because it was getting to be quite a bit compared to what I was having the past few days. When I got home, I FELT IT. I was SO full and felt terrable. I should have measured it out, but I didnt.. I hope I didnt do anything bad to my stomach or band. This morning I feel better, but I drank a little bit of milk, and I am stuffed again.... what happenes if you eat too too much.. do you usualy throw up or does it just sit there and take a while to go down?

It varies from person to person and on how much was "too much". You had just broth? I couldn't quite decide if you had just broth or if you ate food. Too much liquid simply takes its time passing through the band. No big deal. solid food must digest and can take hours to break down enough to pass through your band. In the meantime, you will feel uncomfortably stuffed. If you ate so much that it couldn't get into your stomach, it can sit in your esophagus until it can pass into your stomach OR it can come back up as a PB. Frankly, that's the one time I can honestly say I think I'd rather have a PB, LOL.

Whew, I am so over Soup now its not even funny. I am still doing the two week liquid post diet. (on day 6 here) Uhhg, All I want is to munch on something with TEXTURE! I was giving my husband an evil eye just for eating celery... CELERY.. I mean good grief. I must have it bad~ The whole thing last night with the broth was broth only. I just drank WAY too much of it. It just took such a long time to hit bottom... but when it did, it ALL filled up in there. I was VERY uncomfortable.

I have learned my lesson, and am now going to carry a mearuring cup with me as a part of my keychain. This way I dont put myself through that again...

I am like you, Princess, am in my liquid post-op phase. Thankfully it will end on the 20th. I know that measuring everything is no fun. I do measure everything. Before measuring my liquids and solids, I couldn't have told you the physical difference between an 8oz glass of milk and a 16 oz glass of milk. I used to think my portions were relatively small until I truly measured things out. No wonder I got so big!!! I was eating double, triple, sometimes quadruple what I should have been eating for my portions. I am glad to hear someone else out there loves to measure their foods and liquids. Keep up your great work. I wish you much success!

I had the same experience 2 days ago. I had no idea that thin liquids would have that effect! That's the one topic I hadn't seen discussed here before I was banded. Personally I was unable to find anything that gave relief except for sitting upright in a comfy position until it passed & def not so much as even taking a sip of Water for 8hrs. I felt better within 2hrs but any little sip put me right back on full! Definitely is a learning process!

Just a few words of warning/learned wisdom:

It is good to find your limits but they will change as you get filled and are not always consistent thru out the day. Some of us ar etighter in the morning and looser in the evening or vice versa.

Be careful with Soup and slider foods as more can go in so more calories go down easy without filling you. Many Soups are not low calories at all.

I also have found as my diet has gotten better that I am more sensitive to salt and then retain water: My rings/watch get tight when normally they are have become bracelets. Especially the day or two before a weight in. My normal 2 pound fluctuation during a day becomes greater when I eat salt.

Wishing you all the best on your journey. All in all I am a very happy camper.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
