Yesterday my family and I went to an amusement park. I got one one of the rides and the bar was pressed against my stomach. The operator of the ride was pressing the bar down, I finally told him to unlock the ride and let me adjust my seating. After that the bar was fine. My question is from the operator pushing and trying to slide the bar down along my stomach could that cause any damage to the port? I have heard of ports flipping. How would I know if my port flipped. Also how would I know if my band slipped? I probably don't have anything to worry about, but last night all of a sudden that thought had popped into my mind.

In a situation like that I would imagine you would know your port flipped or that there was damage because there would be instant and prolonged pain. Your port is sewn into muscle and nerve and you would surely feel it if it were suddenly torn loose. If the port were to come loose and flip slowly for whatever reason, you probably wouldn't know until it was time for a fill.

As far as the band goes, it would take a lot more than that to slip it. The band is deeper inside you padded behind your liver. Once healed , normal movement and activity should not affect the band. Slippage would more likely be caused if the band were not placed properly, improper eating (eating too soon, eating too much) or keeping the band overfilled.

Symptoms of slippage depend on which way and how far it slipped, and can range from no symptoms at all to reflux, difficulty eating, pain when eating or not being able to eat or drink anything at all.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
