Great chocolate snack that's healthy!

Recommended Posts

I don't know about you guys but I really like chocolate. Did I say LIKE? I meant REALLLLLY LIKE chocolate. I crave it & it's been one of those things I have missed since being banded. But, I've found something that's still chocolate & actually healthy. I can eat it!!!

I dip half of a banana in a thin layer of chocolate & let it harden. (I found it in the banana section at the store.) It's only a small amount of chocolate & it really feeds my appetite for chocolate. I dipped 6 of them at a time & freeze them in seperate baggies. I told myself I can have one a day for my snack & I feel like I'm in heaven. The banana is very healthy & it goes down easy without any problems.

Just thought I'd share if there are others out there who miss chocolate as much as I do.

I love chocolate too, it is my weakness...I eat the Yoplait Whips, they have a new chocolate flover, chocolate cherry and chocolate rasberry too, it tastes like chocolate mousse and only 160 calories, I'm going to have to try the chocolate covered bananas , I eat 1 banana everyday

I'm right there with you sister! I LOOOOOOOVVEEEEE chocolate! I will give this a try. When I'm weak I usually eat a 3 musketeer bite size bar, but I'm finding that they are just too sweet now. Go figure! Too sweet!

You can also use that chocolate dip for other fruits, like strawberries, mmmmmm. Just let your healthy imaginations go wild. Cherries when they're in season would be so decadent too.

Well, before I figure out how to dip my chihuahua and nibble on her, I'd better stop now.

I am just like you LaMadam, I have been eating the chocolate cherry whips and a banana a day too!

About the chocolate dipped bananas, in high school, I worked for a local Tastee Freez (fast food place) and we made those all the time and called them Monkey Tails! They are delicious and I haven't had one in probably 10 years! We also dipped them in butterscotch and rasberry. Yum!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
