itsalmosttime 0 Posted August 9, 2009 Hi everyone, hope that your having a great weekend. I was wondering if anyone else has noticied a change in their period since having the band put on. I was on my period the week I had my surgery, July 24th and am starting again. Just wondering if this is a normal thing, does getting banded change your cycle??? Has anyone else had this issue as of yet?
allisondiaz 0 Posted August 9, 2009 Hi, I had my surgery July 15 and had my period at the time. 11 days ago I started again and have had the heaviest period I've had since having my Mirena put in. Still going on today:mad: The good news is my GYN told me that once I lose weight my periods should get lighter and lighter:biggrin:
PSJ71 0 Posted August 9, 2009 Hi everyone, hope that your having a great weekend. I was wondering if anyone else has noticied a change in their period since having the band put on. I was on my period the week I had my surgery, July 24th and am starting again. Just wondering if this is a normal thing, does getting banded change your cycle??? Has anyone else had this issue as of yet? Hi there, I just wanted to say that I had my surgery on 07/07/2009 and never had a period at all last month. I had had some spotting off and on for about 2 or 3 days and then finally started this month. I think hormones and the fact that we had surgery affect our cycles. So, I am actually prepared to have really weird cycles until my body settles down from the shock that its been through. I think it is normal, but you could discuss it with your doc if it is too worrisome or bothersome. Take care,
ucdep99 0 Posted August 9, 2009 Yes they say it can happen. I use to have mine on the 18th. then it went to the 24th and know i'm back around to the 12th i think somewhere there. But they say its from the change in your body and loosing the weight. ucdep99

HolliJ 24 Posted August 10, 2009 I'm sure it affects many people. Hormones/weight loss. I'm not looking forward to getting my period back, lol. I haven't had mine in about 9 months. Before that, I was regular for about 5-6 months. Before that, it had been 14 months since I had one. I have PCOS. I know it's not healthy, but damn is it nice! I know that once I drop weight, it will come back. Ugh.

jujuvee 0 Posted August 10, 2009 I have been an every 28 days cycle forever and this is the first month since my surgery in March that is seems to be getting back on track. Also noticing my Hair loss is slowing down. It all makes sense, surgery is a major shock to our systems.
SmilinShel 0 Posted August 10, 2009 According to my gynecologist, the abnormality of the cycles is a direct result of rapid fat loss. Fat cells store excess estrogen and when the fat is released from the cells the estrogen is also released. This imbalance of estrogen sends the hormonal balance into chaos and can often in result in cycles that never seem to end, abnormally flow (light or heavy). She didn't mention anything about them not happening, but I am not on any birth control hormones so that may be another factor altogether. She told me, as long as you are rapidly losing weight you should expect to have irregularity. I have decided it is worth it
mystro70 0 Posted August 11, 2009 I just went to the ob last week about these long cycles and had an ultrsound today. The tech told me the same its due to the weight loss tahnks for the post all
Fluffy RN 0 Posted August 12, 2009 My husband just asked me today when my next period would be and I realized I haven't had one since before surgery! Surgery was June 17th and I had it the week before. I haven't had one since. I know I'm not pregnant, so just figured my body was out of whack from surgery and losing some weight. Hey-I'll take it while I can. It's made for a nice summer =)

beccab1980 0 Posted August 13, 2009 It has been a year since my surgery. Because of my weight loss, even with and IUD I get my period on the same day. Watch out ladies....my doctor told me your fertility goes up with weight loss too!
jennyr1222 0 Posted September 2, 2009 Question for you ladies. I had surgery August 7th and had very little port pain, except when getting up the week after surgery. However, yesterday I got stabbing pains to the right of my belly button, about two inches below my port. I thought it was gas, I had veggie chili for lunch, but then today got my period. Still have a little bit of the pain this morning, but not nearly like yesterday. Has anyone else had this? Is it related to your period I wonder? I have a dr's appt on Friday, but just thought I'd check in with you all!
