lovecats85 2 Posted September 28, 2005 This pre-op liquid diet is now giving me diarreha. Is this normal? Sorry to be gross but I count on you guys for advice and reassurance!
ThunderThighs 0 Posted September 28, 2005 I have the opposite effect with the preop diet, I can't go! LOL
tztmama 0 Posted September 28, 2005 I didn't have to do the preop diet but am now on liquids for the next 2 weeks (post-op). I have done these liquid diets before and the only time I had diarhea was when the shakes I drank contained milk. When I went to soy everything was fine. lovecats85 2 Posted September 28, 2005 I think I'm having too much milk. I will try soy. Does anyone reccomend a good brand of soy milk?
riverrat 0 Posted September 29, 2005 Preop didn't bother me, but just you wait until the first couple of weeks post-op. It's completely normal. The second I had anything dairy, I was running to the bathroom. LOL
tztmama 0 Posted September 29, 2005 Personally, I use Cambridge brand. I buy it online and but you have to specify the food For Life product because it is soy. I lost weight on it before and was able to stick to it longer because it tastes good and there are lots of recipes to go with it that breaks the monotony of the "same ol' thing". My surgeon told me it is, however, a little high in carbs. It has 17 g of Protein and 15g of carbs per serving. I like it though and experience tells me that I am more likely to stick to something if i like the taste. It costs about $140.00 for a one months supply. Kelliebelly 13 Posted September 29, 2005 Yep, I had it so bad I rang the doctor in the middle of the night and asked him if it was normal because I was so worried. Completely normal!! Good Luck

Jessiebear 2 Posted September 29, 2005 Yep I had it too! I was so empty that I could take a drink & listen to it traveling through my bowels as I ran to the bathroom! TMI! Sorry! "Liquid in" "Liquid out" Pretty much sums it up I think! It'll go away post-op when you get to the mushies.
