new but old at the same time???

Recommended Posts

Gidday everyone. I'm new to the site but had my lapband 7 yrs ago. I wasn't really cyber savvy during those yrs of change & had a young baby and 5yr old, so was always busy. I've started a blog to talk/share/help/support others out there about my experiences with other surgeries after the weight was gone. Most of you probably don't want to cloud your head with those thoughts just yet, but some of you might. My aim is to encourage & support anyone out there with their weight struggles & just 'spread the love'. If I make 1 person smile or feel comforted, then I'll feel good about that. Everyone is beautiful & I still think I'm a big girl trapped in a thin body (ie; my feelings/attitude are the same, just the vessel has changed). Hope to chat to many of you really soon. See b4 & after pics of me on my blog: lapband-7yrslater.blogspot.com.au Peace

I have been banded for all of 6 months and just wondering how succesful it is long term re people have to get new ones after 10 years ( Id be 61 and dont think I would have either the inclination or money to go through with it all again. Still you sound impressive well done!

Nice to meet you meikobobo. Hope your 6 months has been a smooth ride. My 1st 12mths was incredible. Some weeks I lost 5kgs. In just over 12mths, I'd more than halved my size from 124kgs to 58kgs. I was too skinny then tho, & had to get the band let out a little. I sat at 62kgs for a long time as was very happy. In the last year it's crept up to 70 (stable for a long time). I'd like to get back to 62. Thinking Lipo atm. My blog has pics and details of my other surgeries you may be interested in. How much have you lost so far?

Hi Grace I finally managed to get to your blog..good pictures You have done very well. My aim is for just under 70kgs. I think I would be fine at 68kgs. and would like to try and maintain for a while. I am the same height as you but older (much older) :w00t: just a question.. did you have private health insurance for the follow up surgeries and how did your partner react to the whole thing.

I lost most of my weight pre-op on Reductil but didnt want to be on it all my life plus it was loosing its effectiveness. I was about 103kg at my peak and got down to 87kgs then with band preop got to 83kgs and now am 77kgs 6mths later I am just trying to cope with this new way of eating and so not really stressing re figures as l ong as it does not go up. I have a terrible family history of strokes and heart attacks(all die by age of 55) so medically it was imperative I do something soon. I told no-one though as I just couldnt cope with anyone watching me and giving me grief while I adapted and that included my husband of 32years... dear sweet thing that he is he has always been skinny and just thinks you should stop eating when you have enough. Unfortunately 4 me there is never enough. I figure once I have this band worked out say in a year thats when I come clean in the mean time I have no pressure from anyone as to what I am eating or how much I have lost. This was something I did just for me (probably the only time I have done this my whole and I am quite enjoying having something that is private and my very own) With kids (I have three) you know how rare that is.:sneaky:

Wow, how you kept that from your hubby & kids for 6mths, I'll never no! Good for you though. Pressure is something that effects us negatively sometimes. I'm guessing...6kg loss in 6mths...you haven't had it tightened or not very much? Are you having trouble getting used to the eating? I have friends who haven't tightened their bands much & can eat a big baked potato wi cheese, sour cream etc. & I can just eat a bowl of soup! I make up for it with wine though! LOL! Oh, yes have private health (don't ask me what I ended up paying, it'd take me ages to figure out). And my husband is very supportive. His attitude is, "if somethings not right, fix it & if medical advancements can do it for you, then go for it." But he never told me to do anything. Always was, "do what will make you happy & I'll back you all the way." I am very lucky I've got such a great guy. I'm gonna go to my blog now & write about that & also the nosey parkers & fakes out there.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
