jeanie3283 0 Posted August 8, 2009 I was banded on August 6th. I had a horrible case of nausea last night and actually had some dry heaving. Could this have caused my band to slip and if it did would I know it?
RestlessMonkey 7 Posted August 8, 2009 This early post op, yes it could. Call your surgeon on Monday and let him know; they may want to do an x-ray or barium swallow test. Since you are so soon post op and on liquids, I am not sure what symptoms you'd have...pain? Or maybe none? Odds are you're ok; lots of people are nauseated post op. But it's better to be safe than sorry. Call Monday if for no other reason than your own peace of mind.
Mimilou2004 13 Posted August 8, 2009 As RM says, call your doc Monday and be gentle with your band as far as food intake. Not all slips are painful. Mimi
skm 0 Posted August 10, 2009 I was banded 3/08 and some time around 11/08, after losing 60 lbs, I had a slip. My syptoms were: eating hurt and I had to throw almost everything up-even some liquids. I had heart burn and night coughing. I couldn't burp. I couldn't eat sitting down or with my bra on. I would have to unhook my bra when I ate. It took Kaiser until March to take the Fluid out so the stomach would hopefully correct itself. We're not sure how it slipped. I did get the flu and was heeving for a night, before my doc gave me anti-nausea meds.
Mimilou2004 13 Posted August 10, 2009 SKM, I am so sorry you went through that. Did your slip resolve and are you still a successful bandster? Mimi
