I didnt realize that Jello was on the liquid list~ Be careful!

I had surgery on the 5th as well. I am finding I need to eat a little more and a little more often. When I started out, it was like 2 tablespoons, and I was done for a while. Now I have something like 1/4 cup of Soup at a time and im good for about 4 hours. Its a healing thing. Give it time. I found that straining bean with bacon or split pea soup from the store seems to hold me over real good. Any creamy Soups work a little better. Hang in there, you aren't alone with this...

Hey we were banded the same day, I was told I can go to full liquids right away but I couldn't manage it till today, Jello is considered Clear Liquids, so I can have as much as I like but I can only tolerate a little at a time. I made my own broths and Soups some clear some with cream. you can also purchase those campbells microwaveable Soup that is 70 calories and very soupy, they come in all kinds of flavors, I can't tolerate yougurt even though it is on my list of acceptable foods, yesterday is the first day I started trying to get my protien in but I am not hungry yet and my stoma is really small from the sugery swelling I can only take a few sips of a soup spoon. so far still not too hungry just gassy, I cannot wait for this stuff to get out of my system...

About another week and a half, and then....((AHHH)) Angels singing... Cottage cheese! I am having SUCH a rough time smelling the cooking from my familys meals. Oh man, its rough. I was looking at the dishes from last nights meatloaf, and saw all the greese in it. I thought, wow, so THATS what I have been eating on a regular basis~ No wonder I needed help! Oh, the eggs that smell SO good and the pancakes... I have one more Saterday morning to get through with al this. Just keep the focus and we can get through this part.

I had my surgery done at Weight loss Surgical centers and they only have you on liquid for one week. You can then go to pureed for 1 week then mushy. I was banded on July 31st and had a check-up at one week and they told me to go ahead and start adding mushy stuff within the next five days. Wow, I must be really lucky. This pure liquid stuff is horrible. Definately start getting your Protein in and drink lots of Water they told me that will make you feel better much faster. The water gets things moving and the protein will give you energy. Good luck to you all.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
