I've never tried cream of celery. Cream of potato is good but post-op, even though the time was really for healing, I did my best to stay away from it because of the carbs. I figured, with 3 weeks of a pre-op diet, my body finally adjusted to not really having carbs, so I didn't want to start eating them again really. I ate it once but I strained all of the potatoes out. It is very good though.

I prefer cream of potato, the carbs count is a little different than something like rice, put it in the blender

Hubby just bought me some Luigi sugar free cherry Italian Ice sweetened with splenda, really good...

I just blended my homemade version of potato cream Soup and it was good, it may help with your tummy too...

Good! That was really just my personal choice - I know on my post-op diet sheet they definitely listed cream Soups so I know they're okay to eat! Enjoy!

i love the cream of potato also when i'm super hungry. its filling and altho pre banding i mixed it with milk, i used Water this time around so it wasnt so thick. i can only eat about 1/4 cup then i feel so full. cream of broccoli i like also..i just puree it really well.

cream of celery i've never tried. doesnt sound so appealing to me but maybe it isn't so bad.

Just do your research about low carb cream, I know heavy whippping cream is low carb and works with a lot of the cream Soups and they work out beacause you dont' have to use so much. a good place to look is the Atkins or South beach cookbook, you can get them free from the library.

I love the cream of chicken the most. However, New England clam chowder isn't bad for a break every now & again but you have to run it thru the blender to get the chunks out. You could make your own potato Soup, you know.

Cream of Potato is good, I also like the 97% fat free Cheddar Broccoli Soup. Yummy and filling and the borccoli bits are so small it went down easily! I sipped creamed soup when I was on full liquids, helped keep me full and the warm soup was comforting while healing.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
