Back pain after eating

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I had my second fill two days ago and have definitely felt different since it. I now have 2mL in my band.

I felt a little nauseous after my fill and I put it down to the nurse hitting the side of the port before eventually finding the middle. I followed advice and kept on soft foods until dinner tonight.

I had a small scoops of mashed vege, some soft broccoli and one lamb cutlet (no crumbs) for dinner. This was such a tiny meal in comparison to my pre-band days.

Anyway, about half way through eating I felt a bit of pain in my back, but stupidly ignored it. Then did I pay for the next hour!!!

My backpain has only just left me, but I can assure you it was excrutiating! In addition to my stabbing pains in the back, I was bringing up some very frothy saliva, about 3/4 of a cup over the hour. (I apologise for too much information). Does this happen to anyone else?

Is it from eating too much/too fast a combination of both? The pain took an hour to subside, now I am back to normal!

I seriously don't want to go through that again!!!

Any advice is greatly welcomed.

Cheers,

Mandy:blush:

Yes, I have had both of these happen. One, if you don't chew your food enough, it hurts going down and I too get the back pain. And if it goes down wrong I get the froffy stuff you are talking about, it is discusting. If you just got filled, you should be on liquids for a few days, for your system to get used to the band being bigger. I would stick to liquids, soft foods and work your way back up. Then hopefully you can avoid the back pain and the gross slavia. Take your time eating and don't eat too much!

Thank you so much, Ange. Just wanted to hear that I wasn't on my own with this latest challenge.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
