I got banded on the 27th of july. The doctor put the band on but didn't fill it he won't for at least a month. Anyhow my problem is I wonder how big around the band is without any restriction? My biggest fear is that I am eatting too much. I don't have anything coming back up and I don't feel stuffed. So I am somewhat scared. Did the food go through really easy for the rest of you in the beginning? Now I am counting my calories and watching what I eat and eatting the things on my doc's list. Did everyone else in the beginning do the one tablespoon of food?(even when you can eat more) I am nervous I am doing this wrong and I am going to screw this up! I am doing things like I am supposed to except for only eatting like 3 tablespoons at a time. I need help!

I had no restriction in the beginning at all and have yet to reach my sweet spot. So fduring the first few fills I could still really chow down. So much so I was scared I wasgoing to bust the band. My doctor said that was quite normal and that many people actual gain weight intially after being banded. That I just had to be patient and do my best to eat healthy at least and once I got close to my sweet spot I would soon not be able to eat the volumes that I was eating. I was glad he told me because I really nthought restriction would happen straight away which it certainly did not.

It is perfectly normal to feel the way you do and I think most of us felt the same way. I felt some restriction after the surgery just due to swollen stomach but once it healed boy was it hard! I really had to be careful and watch my intake but I did eat more than a tablespoon and still lost weight. You are being too hard on yourself and need to lighten up a little. LOL. Call your surgeons office and get their advice. They should have given you a guide to go by for this time period. Good Luck!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
