I can't believe myself! I ate a hot fudge sundae.

third week post op and still can't hold much with out discomfort- on mushie soft foods and most days, I have a soft scrambled egg, mashed potatoes, pudding, yogurt (and tried cottage cheese, but it was too lumpy) maybe one ounce at a time. (can't tolerate Protein drinks)

Everyday I have at least two 'spells' after eating, even when I take small bites and chew well. I have to take lots of (halved) pills throughout the day and that hurts most of the time, too.

My daughter is eating healthy for medical reasons, and we discuss her menus of fruits, whole grains and other nutritious meals.

I want to lose weight healthily! I actually miss weight watchers, that feeling you get from eating whole foods!right ... a nice turkey on whole wheat with lettuce and tomatoes...

But, I can't, I have to eat nutritiously incomplete soft foods!

So, today, I just drove right over to Braum's and ordered a scoop of vanilla ice cream with hot fudge sauce, and whip cream...drove home and ate it all.

I can't believe I ate an ice cream sundae only because it would slide down easily................................................................

................and I wanted it.

Don't let that set you back! You did it and it is done now, move on. Just try to make it through the next few weeks. There will be a day you will be able to eat the food you want. I work with several girls who have bands and tolerate most all foods just in small portions. Good luck to you! =)

Do you still have Fluid in your band?

I don't think I have any fuid left, but can't be sure.

The doctor took out 2.5 cc's on Monday and I assumed that was all there was, until I continued to have these problems. So, I called the office and the nurse said he took it all, (but she is guessing because she was not in the room and did not look at anything in my chart)...who know's what's going on in there... not me

Well it's your body. You need to know if you have Fluid in there or not. Because if you do, it needs to be removed. Honestly you are in the "healing" stage and I know it's been rough for you but someone needs to take the reins for your health care and I think you need to step up! At 3 weeks ice cream won't hurt you. It won't help you much but it won't hurt you. It sounds to me like you are really just depressed; this is partly because you feel cruddy. You feel cruddy because you've been "Too tight" from the time the band was installed.

You should either FIND another surgeon, or realize that you are going to have to take a less passive role in your health care. I hope I don't sound mean because I don't want to; but if I were where you are I might shake you a little! :scared2:

Of COURSE once you're healed you can live on turkey on whole wheat with lettuce and tomatoes if you want to. I can only assume you tried weight watchers before you took the large step of having surgery, and at some point realized you (like 95% of the people who try diets alone) could NOT do it without help.

That reasoning was sound. Right now you aren't really thinking too well because you've been through a 3-week long ordeal.

SO 1. QUIT feeling guilty because you want to feel better 2. FIND OUT for sure if you have a fill left. Either way tell them you are in misery. They can give you something to reduce the swelling 3. IF you can't get satisfaction, find a better surgeon/office. It's the rest of your life. I am sure, as good as the ice cream may have been, you don't want to eat it forever. None of us do.

Most of us don't have to.

You are my age; I know we grew up thinking docs were just almost little godlets. Well, they aren't. What if your beloved daughter was getting the run around like you are? Would you be passive? or be a tigress? You are worthy of good care too, you know; but you aren't getting it.

(Monkey - excellent advice as always!)

Please, everyone, remember that your doctor works for you. Not vice versa. Hopefully, your doctor is working with you. You are paying him for a service. It's like any other service. You have the right to complain, to ask questions, to get more info, etc. Even if your insurance is paying for your band and follow-up, you still have the right to be in charge! Hang in there and best of luck to you!!

I am in the mushy stage and I am eating broiled flounder. I pureed some broccoli put in in a small casserole dish, then sprikled some cheese on it and baked it. It was very good. I also had some mushed black Beans and this morning had an cheese omlete with low fat cheese and egg beaters. Be sure to get your Protein in and try to stay away from real sugar. I am a sweets addict and know if I have one piece of sweets, my cravings will come back.

Forgot about the Sundae and get focused. If you have the right food in your cabinets, you will be more prepared. I bought some sugar free popscicles and pudding. I like having them as a treat.

Most importantly, get in your protein. It keeps hunger and cravings at bay!!!!

Thanks for the good tips. Question: How many teaspoons, would you guess, of each of those foods do you eat in one meal?

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
