Found a real good soup to et me through

Recommended Posts

Ok, I just tried split pea Soup with bacon. YUM~:tt1:

I just had surgery on the 5th, and I needed SOMETHING to satisfy my feeling of wanting "real food". The taste of bacon in it helped so much. It was also thick enough after straining it that it still coated my stomach. Give it a try, you may like it too!:scared2:

WOW I could only have Clear Liquids the first week so I couldn't have been able to have that...so people need to make sure they are cleared for it first!

Its just regular campbels split pea Soup. You just have to pour it through a mesh strainer is all. Keep the liquid and give the dog the solids~:scared2:

I wasnt put on CLEAR liquids only, just liquids after my surgery. If you cant have nothing but that, then dont eat this until you can... very simple. But when you can, OH it tastes good for something to warm the tummy. Its helped me a lot to get through this rough part of the journey.

I did that when I was on full liquids...but I took the can of Soup, about 1/2 can of Water, and ran it all through my stunningly adorable pink mini food processor I bought for post op! :scared2:

It is really good that way, and totally smooth and thick.

I couldn't have it until week 2, but it was wonderful.

I too am on full iquids not just clear, but I have put off my split pea Soup for mushie stage I just like it with a little more texture, however, I have perfected the Zuppa Tuscana soup from the Olive Garden and Made myself a strained broth from that it is to die for... I used three large potato's cut up very thin in a pot to boil down twice mix it up with a potato masher, a little bit of parmesean cheese, pepper, ground sausage (johnsonville) and fresh spinach, chopped up really good, put it all together in a pot after cooking the sausage and crumbled it up really good, then boil it down really good add heavy whipping cream (low carb) and Water bring to a boil season to taste, strain it off and oh my goodness so good.... sip slowly, is all I have been told but man it is so good...

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
