Hello eveyone! I am writing this in green cause it supposed to be calming. I need calming right now. My mind is playing tricks on me, yes and I think I have one. Yesterday was pre-op. What stress.:crying: I went to Dr. Provost office first, had all my visits with the people. Nurse, nutrionist, PA, Dr. and then nurse again. Then I made my way over to the hospital. Paid my money:w00t:, and then over to registeration, and finally pre-op. All they did was draw blood. I thought they should have done blood, ekg and cxr. So I left. I am just so tense in my shoulders and neck area, I could cry. I am really getting nervous. I have a pain in my right side, like where your galbladder is on left just on my right. I don't have any idea what it is. I just think I am thinking that my body is playing tricks on me. I just don't know. I am excited but Wow it is coming so fast:eek:. I want to thank everyone for everything. Oh and I have to stay over night in the hospital. Why I wonder? Everyone else is getting out, why can't I . Cause I have insurance.

Thanks,

Allison

Allison... First BREATHE !!! and second BREATHE again and relax ( notice I am also writing this in green !!! LOL). I get you, I know where you are right now, I'm there too as we're both going in on monday, but you have to reassure yourself that it will be fine...they do this ALL the time, just think about all the girls here who have already have had it done and are chilaxing at home. Like you I also have to stay ON at the hospital but it is an insurance thing, so it doesnt mean anything is wrong with you and it'll actually help your body relax a little better and get some sleep. Ive been told that the stuff that they put in your IV overnight is stronger than whatever they could give you to take home so YAY !!!

RELAX YOU WILL TURN OUT BETTER THEN YOU CAN IMAGINE !!!

Hi girls, I feel your nervousness. I had my pre-op appt yesterday also and it was kind of a WAKE UP YOU"RE HAVING SURGERY! THIS IS REAL!!! moment. We had something called "boot camp" yesterday where a bunch of people came in and talked to all the patients having surgery next week. The other ladies I talked to seemed to also be feeling somewhat freaked out. I think its because we CHOSE this and could back out if we wanted to. BUT, we know deep down its the right thing for our health. Uggghhh. In a few months, we will know it was all worth it!

Hey, I'm self-pay and my doctor requires lap-band patients to stay overnight in the hospital as well. I know hospital stays are uncomfortable, but try to think of it as a good thing. I'm sorry you're experiencing so much anxiety over everything, maybe it wouldn't be a bad idea if you tried to get your mind off of the surgery for a while until you feel a little calmer. Do you have one of those mother-in-laws that annoys the crap out of you? Maybe give her a call... lol

I stayed overnight at the hospital, and honestly I wish I stayed an extra night or two. The pain killers are stronger and put right in through the IV..lol...the beds go up and down and u can find a position that doesn't hurt ur incision, and everything is bought right to you. Staying in the hospital is not so bad!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
