Can you get de-banded after being banded?

Recommended Posts

I felt nauseated ever since surgery, I don't feel like myself, I feel like I can't eat anything without being nauseated, I feel like I got to vomit a lot, I wish I didn't get this done, is it possible to get de-banded this early? I want it out I feel horrible and miserable ))):::

How long ago were you banded? Ask your doctor for anti-nausea meds. It's not unusual to be nauseated when first banded but it should go away. If you don't improve, call your doctor and discuss this with him.

My understanding is you can. But maybe you should give it some more time and think about it. You may feel better in a couple of days. Call you Dr. and talk to him.

Honestly for some reason, younger women seem to feel more pain than older ones. I have no idea why...maybe your nerves are younger or something! LOL But you are more likely to be nauseated, in pain, and miserable.

IT STOPS! And I don't mean when you're 80, either. I mean the nausea, vomiting and pain will go away. You took a HUGE step to being trim, fit, healthy, HOT, gorgeous. Your stomach is pissed off at you...you aren't feeding it like it's used to AND AND AND you put a BELT around it!

It will get over it. Give it time. Trust yourself...the you that wasn't hungry and drugged and unhappy, but the you who thought this over and wanted the benefits.

The nausea will pass; eventually you'll be able to eat, your stomach will get on board with the new situation, and all will be "copacetic".

You will feel normal again, just give your body time to heal. I assure you you will feel better in a week or so. If you think what you are experiencing is abnormal, call your doctor.

I felt the same way. I was "abnormally" swollen post op and I could barely get Water down and ended up back in the hospital 3 days after I was released. I wanted to rip the stupid band out myself. THEN after that I was constantly nauseous, dry heaving, and shaking from the lack of eating. Once I was moved to mushies and soft solids I felt normal again. It takes time, it hurts, it sucks, you're miserable, and you want to rip it off your stomach yourself, but it does pass.

Is there even anything in your stomach to come up? The nausea could be left over from the anesthesia, compounded by being hungry. You just had major surgery. No one would expect you to feel like yourself so soon. But you will get back there. Remind yourself of all the times you've tried to lose weight and failed. THEN remind yourself that this relatively brief period of discomfort is a very very short part of the rest of your wonderful, no-longer-obese life.

Nothing ever came up for me either. Just dry heaves all the time. I took phenergan for the nausea and it didn't really help but it put me to sleep so I didn't have to deal with it all the time. Honestly once you move on, find a Protein Shake you like, and move on to mushies and soft solids it will get so much better.

Erin18, i know about dry heaves. Have a sinus problem that combined with the lap band can make me vomit to that point. hang in there. it will get better. the pain and other things will stop. Give it time, but if you cannot keep anything down, especially Water and meds, Do contact your surgeon ASAP.

Rest, And remind yourself of all the reasons you did this.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
