Auh=oh, I did it... hopefully I havn't started WORLD WAR 3 with my family.

I had a skype call from my Bro and SIL yesterday... I could NOT beleive how overweight and unhealthy looking my Brother was!!!! It was shocking. He kept saying "How good you look Sis" and I said thanks and YOU can do it too.

So today, I sent him a link to Sparkpeople.com and told him about my Lapband.. I had NOT shared this info with him previously as we have not had the 'Closest" of relationships in the past 7 years... Although, it has warmed considerably in the last year... so we'll see if I've planted a 'seed'....

Way to go Candice!!!

It looks like Steph's RV sleeps 4 if you knock the table down. I don't know what type it was, but it is about the size and look of the little ones you can rent.

Candice, I'll take you up on that challenge, we will have to find a suitable 'prize'. Steph thinks her mom might have a treadle sewing machine that she would be willing to part with for a price. We will see.

Washing machine just overflowed and flooded the utility room. Evidently the Water level sensor for the cold water malfunctioned and won't shut the water off. So for right now I turned off the cold water valve and switched the hoses. Not a perminant solution, but one that will work. I'll have to check into fixing it, if it is too much, I'll just junk it. The new house has an old washing machine in it that should last me awhile so I can save some $$ to replace it. When it rains it pours...literally.

Helped the roofers this morning so didn't make it into town for costco. I'll have to run in after work sometime this week. I still need to clean house. I'm just tired. The Beast is up and running. The mechanic says that it wasn't just my imagination the Beast DOES purr. He said the engine is in great shape. He also checked all the belts, etc and says it is good to go. AND my CRV IS designed to run 85,000 miles without a tune up, infact it is designed to run 110,000 miles, so she doesn't need any work!!

Was going to cook some steak tonight, but DD#4 is on a date, so I don't feel like cooking just for me. We hit 75 degrees today, but rain clouds are now rolling in and we have an 80% chance of rain tomorrow.

My cabinets are faky dark wood covered, think the 70's. The don't have handles or anything. Maybe I should go with a warm tan, almost a latte? or just continue the grey throughout.

Hey Gang....

It's 5:45 and I am just sitting down.... Went to Kohls at 9 - the Gift card saved me $50 - but I spent $300... Found these shapers by flexie they have straps - but go under your bra - advertize to take the love handles away - they did - I had on my size 2 capri's and they are low on the waist - the excess skin hangs a bit - well with the shaper - it doesn't - they aren't cheap $48 each - but sale buy one get one 1/2 price - then they had one that advertized to take care of the back fat - again straps but buttons in the front like a corsset - so those 4 items alone where $140 but if it makes me feel better when I am dressed then it's worth it.. Got some capri leggings - cute tunic length top (black/white) - sky blue capris - white eyelet skirt - top that goes with the capris - cute sundress pinks/blue/yellow/orange pasily - then to Marshalls gold sandle - these darling white ones with jeweled flowers - another tunic phesant blouse w/jean capri leggings.

Then came home and started moving winter clothes to other closet and pulling out summer clothes - it's in the 80's I don't think we will have any more cold weather. Not all the way done - still got summer clothes in the other closet - but will do that next friday (it's my furlough day)

Candice we still have them (furlough fridays) - but now 1 a month period - I like that - still have an extra day off and will gain at least another 1.5 vacation day back..

Karla - cook the steak for you - you deserve it - girl just cuz no one's home doesn't mean you shouldn't eat well.. That's and excuse and that's saying you aren't worth cooking a meal for - You are...

I guess for me dinner is my most important meal - I want good tasting food that's healthy...

Well washer's done - gotta go put it in the dryer..

Oh Karla hugs on your washer - hell you are smart - I wouldn't know that you could do that - It would work for me as I rarely ever wash warm or hot - always cold - gotta take care of my clothes - plus I was all my clothes on the deleicate cycle..

Candice - I doubt you started a war :0)...

Hi there! I haven't been here since April 2009! Looks like everyone is doing great! Wow, Phyllis! You've done so well! Congratulations!

I'm doing well. Have gained about 10 pounds from my all time low, but have maintained this weight for quite awhile. I guess I would like to lose back down to 137, but need to get motivated. I am very active, but find that I eat more than I should again. I never got any fills after the first three, so I've had no adjustments since Feb or Mar of 2008 and haven't seen a bariatric doctor since then. Never had a need for an adjustment and doubt that I need one now. Just need to eat smarter again. I guess most of us got obese because we are addicted to food in some way or another. I've never been a binge eater, etc., but my food choices have never been the best. It's work and you've got to work it to keep it under control.

Can't count the number of people who I know who have had bypass surgery who turned around and regained all the weight they lost. I don't think I could ever do that, but I can understand how it happens.

Glad everyone is doing well!

Take care!

Brandy

Hi Everyone,

I do have a cam for the computer. I have to find it and set it up.

DH did great with his surgery Wed. We put a twin bed from the downstairs bedroom in the living room. So he lives in the living room currently. He has cabin fever. He is not a person who can sit still, or stay inside.

My aunt called tonight. She will be 87 on my BD. She is exactly 40 yrs older than me. My dad has 10 sisters, She's not even the oldest.

Janet-I love Kohls. We don't have one in N.O. area. We have to drive an hour to Slidell or Baton Rouge.

Made a fill appointment for next week. Hopefully that will help get back on the 'band'wagon.

Found out today that I have to pay a monthly fee for Water and sewer at my new house. DUH, what was I thinking. I pay $50 a month and then if I go over the 'basic' amount I have to pay per gallon. There is going to be a lot less grass put in. I can't afford to water grass and trees. Trees are more important. Also found out that I have to install a water meter at $210 and have a plumber do it. the seller's didn't disclose this in the listing, so we are try to get the sellers to pay half and to install it. We will see.

I can't wait to move, my mind is just racing of all the decorating ideas. but I will have to go slow, because of $$$, that really irritates me. Oh well. I have decided that painting all the kitchen cabinets indigo will be too dark. So I am going to paint them a dark cream and then paint a Frank Lloyd Wright 'window' pane on to top ones. I think it would be cool to use metal tiles as a backsplash, and I won't need many, so I think I will be able to afford those.

Actually, tummy didn`t feel too good today. So I didn`t really eat a whole lot.

Went shopping to GNC and got that banana flavored protien shake stuff... had it at lunch.. pretty tasty . I think I`ll like the change from chocolate all the time.

Freezing here again today, so much for the nice balmy spring weather.

Tomorrow, I start back to work - 2 shifts per week - so we`ll see how that goes with the `pitbull``...

So so day here today... warm temps, partly sunny skies, but clouded up this afternoon and the wind picked up.

Beading today...made Bracelet and earrings.

"Homeless" most of the day... evicted by Earl at 7:30 a.m. when he took the motor home in for 2 new tires and oil change. He didn't get back until about 5 p.m., so long day for me. He walked a lot.... costco, Walmart, Casino... where he won $90+, and Dominos for pizza!

Phyl, gorgeous set. So did you nag at Earl for 'staying' out so late? A little payback!

You know, I really hate "limbo land". STILL don't know when the appraisal is going to be done....They are going to have a nice surprise if they try to close on April 16th. There is NO WAY I can close that weekend as I am on campus AND DD#2 can not come and help.

dinner last night was not good, got down about 1 inch square of steak and pbed it, nice. I chewed and chewed. I was still starving, but nothing stayed down. Ended up eating some blueberries, yogurt & Kashi.

I am way not pleased with DD#4...she has ran up a cell phone bill that is in my name so high that NO ONE will tell me what it is. I know I could just look, but I probably don't want to know. I DO know that she paid $800 yesterday that she begged off her dad and that the cell phone company now has her on a payment plan. I am kicking her off, but can't until the bill is paid. NOT HAPPY, she needs to grow up.

Yeah... missed opportunity. By the time he got back I'd been sitting on the neighbors patio finishing up my jewelry and drinking wine for about an hour and didn't care! LOL! I'm BAD!!

And now he tells me we have a cracked belt of some kind so we repeat the whole scenario as soon as the belt comes in! UGH!

Hope all works out for your closing. We have done at least one that I can think of "in absentia" by signing papers at our convenience at another time. Or you can ask for a specific amount of time to get out of the house.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
