I am confessing that I sort of misbehaved today. I did my usual morning routine, and then I went to beading for a little while to work on the necklace I was hoping to take on the cruise this weekend...mmmmmm, that's probably not going to happen. But we meet in the room right next to the beauty shop, so I went in to say "HI" to Pat, the beautician, who is a friend of mine. Asked her if hse thought I needed a trim before we go on the cruise. Of course she said "yes", so as soon as she finished the lady she was working on, she gave me a hair cut, and style. Looks cute! Wish I could fix it like that!!! So... little bead work done. Went to a "food drive" TEA at 1 pm, had to bring canned goods and wear a hat. Had a blast there.... 46 women showed up. food consisted of angel food cake...small slices, straweberries and Cool Whip. I posed for a photo especially for you! BUT.... I AGAIN forgot my jug of crystal lite... left it at beading class. So, hair dresser brought it to Earl and then went next door. So when I got back from the "tea party" I went next door to thank her for bringing my crystal lite jug home to me! And there were several neighbor ladies having a glass of wine. Two bottles of wine and a couple of hours later.... I came back home! I was SO BAD!! And Earl was no help... he kept bringing us bowls of pretzels, chips, crackers, onion dip!! I didn't indulge in very much of that, but I did have too much wine. This has got to stop!! I am having TOO much fun!! But, I want you to know that the attached photo was STAGED entirely for your benefit!! AND, before I had any wine!!! BTW, that's LITE whipped cream she is shooting in to my mouth!!

What a crazy bunch of zanny ladies... wish I was there, looks like a great time was had by all..

Oh and Have a BLAST on your cruise... you leave this weekend???? ENJOY!

Painting again today, sore muscles... but FOOD was GREAT!!

Breaky: Fibre 1 Cereal, skim milk

Lunch: Taco Bell Bean Burrito

Supper: Greek salad with chicken breast sliced on top

and its 8"30p.m. and I only have to make it until 10 p.m without over eating... think I can do it today!!!

Food not too bad today. Too bad about the wine calories.

Had my little eggbeaters omelet for Breakfast, as usual. Didn't finish it all. Had 1 slice of turkey bacon with that. Kashi granola bar for lunch. Then that strawberry shortcake (w/angel food cake) at the "Tea Party". But then there was the wine. Now having a small tilappia fillet for dinner, with some mixed veggies.

Phyl

You are to freaking funny !!!! Love it... Enjoy - that's what life is about - you have done so well - Hell how much more do you want to lose??

Tomorrow only 1 glass of wine - then switch to crystal lite ;0)

Phyl do you leave Friday or Saturday for the cruise..

Candice - WTG on the painting - that's great exercise..

Well I'm back from the gym I did 5 miles on the elliptical tonite - in just little over an hour - burned 500 cal

I would say the elliptical uses more leg muscles than the treadmill

I figured I need to mix it up some to get this weight off..

food has been EXCELLENT !!!

BF - Protein Drink - 15 pt - 70 cal

S - PT chips 10 pt - 140 cal

L - 4 oz turkey meat loaf & 1/4 c cauliflower - 20 pt 200 cal

S - Pt bar - 15 pt - 160 cal

D - will be 4 oz meat loaf & butternut squah 20 pt 250 cal

That so far is 820 cal - and 80 pt - and I have drank 4 16.9 bottles of Water and 5 miles on the elliptical...

As of this morning I have lost 1.5 lbs - back to 143 !!!

Well squash is done - gotta get it out of microwave - I hate the beeping...

Oh Ya - we have a new member to the family - white/brown boxer - Yes I gave in - I was pissed and we had a big row - he feels bad for upsetting me - I feel bad when I say no to him - He's a good kid for the most part and is pretty responsible for an 18 yr old. We will see how it goes..

Like I said - I have a very very hard time saying no to Andrew - we have been going back and forth on this for 8 months - Well it's still sorta a trial basis - I am not doing anything for this dog - I am not going to get attached,.

You're not going to get attached to the new puppy!?

Yeah, right!!! LOL!!

I DID have a GREAT time today... my hair appt, Tea party, and our little "afterglow" party next door with the gals! We laughed, we cried, we told stories and talked about beading! One gal brought over a whole bunch of necklaces and bracelets she has made. BEAUTIFUL! And our hair dresser is going to display them for sale in the beauty shop.

I want to lose about another 50 lb! Not making much progress at the moment. So if I skip the wine and just have Crystal Lite can I put a little Tequila in it??? HAHAHAHA!! I AM BAD!!

Earl did that today and I tried a little... quite good!

Leave for the cruise on Saturday. Norwegian, cruise termnial in L.A.... well, San Pedro, I guess. Have GPS, have street address, and Earl is still freaking out about finding the right cruise terminal!! He is SO hyper! We have only TWO small suitcases with us in the RV! I want to borrow a big one from the neighbors and Earl does not seem to want to do that. NO WAY can I get enough clothes for a 7 day cruise in two small suitcases, not to mention his clothes!! Give me a BREAK!!

Phyl, I want to be you when I grow up!!! You just glow, and that is even without the wine. You enjoy every moment!!! Some day....

Janet, excellent job on the cals...I'm with you, you are a gonner...if the puppy made it into the house, it isn't leaving, of course, I'm a softy myself.

Steph, things with Michael will work out. Remember, it took a lifetime to get where he is, it's not going to be fixed in a few months, keep plugging along!

Tax stuff is almost done, I wouldn't be getting it together, but DD#4 & #5 have to do their FAFSA for college funding AND I need my rebate ASAP to beat back the credit card balance.

The realtor sent out a really nice promo of my house.

So hopefully we haved some showings, none so far this week.

I probably won't be in tonight, I have parent teacher conferences.TTFN

Good Morning!

Rained all night but stopped about 2 hrs ago and the sun is trying to come out. I think it's going to be a beautiful day.

Yeah... I had fun yesterday. There were 46 women who showed up at that tea... It was a food drive fund raiser, so ground rules were: you had to bring canned goods or non-perishables for the food drive, and you had to wear a hat. I was going to wear my new "Red Hat"... the red "hair hat" I found in Quartzsite. I've been trying to change my profile picture to that one but no success yet. Anyway, at the last minute I decided to wear a different red hat. Mostly changed my mind because while I was up at beading working on my necklace, I went in to visit with the hairdresser... Oh, I already told that story. Anyway, she styled it so cute I didn't want to cover it all up with a "hair hat".

Food was pretty good yesterday. Too bad I screwed up by having all those adult beverage calories after the tea with my neighbor ladies! And my tilappia stayed down without a problem last night!! First time in a long time that I didn't have trouble with it!

Good Lord! There is something seriously wrong with the people in this town! Murder suicide last night. I'm sick.

I know this isn't unusual to happen in a lot of towns daily....but in a town this size it just doesn't happen. These are young people. And the woman involved has 2 daughters. One a classmate of Michael's. She was my mail lady. I saw her yesterday and thought, "I really like her."

What in the world is wrong with this world? Yes, there will be REASONS given and will make sense, but it just isn't right!

Good Morning Gang

Right now I am very resentful about the stupid dog - cuz I truly don't want it - so it's going to take some time for me to warm up to it - but it likes me ;0) - Neither Bear nor Angel like the dog - well that's normal for Angel she doesn't like Bear that much - but Bear doesn't like the dog - and Sheba - well forget about it - It's a gentel dog and not super hyper for a puppy (3 months old 1/31)

Tequila - now you are talking !!! But after my last episode - I not in the mood to drink for another few months :0)

We got a little rain last night - but I don't think too much - I have had my sprinklers turned off since last Monday :0)

Well - I have a funeral this afternoon - a lady I have worked w/since 74 - DH died last week - so going to that this afternoon - I hate funerals....

Ok gotta get it in gear..

Janet, I feel so torn about your new puppy for you! A boxer? Really? They are SOOOOO much work. They need so much attention. They need so much exercise! I hope Andrew knows what he's gotten himself into. On the other hand. They are the most gorgeous animals. I've always thought they were so very sweet. But, they need too much attention and work so knew it wouldn't be good in our house. I can imagine your struggle.

Sorry about the funeral. I avoid them as much as possible. Gotta run. Talk to you later.

Pretty quiet day today. Jai and I just hung out for most of it.

Talked to the insurance case worker about exit strategy. I'm not feeling very confident but I don't think she'll ask for us to bring him home before March. After that, it's anyone's call.

Sister in law went back to work and even though they treated her like CRAP when she went in to talk to them, she is returning tomorrow. She's nuts! Her husband is pissed and I'm feeling like a sucker for getting sucked into it. I spent 5 hours yesterday trying to comfort her, look for solutions, letting her vent...and still it meant NOTHING! I just can't believe it. Better luck next time I guess.

Have weight lifting at 7. Jeff wants cheap pizza, so I'll have kashi and yogurt with an apple and pb cup for a snack when I get home. food today has been really good. I was going to make stuff for Michael's care package, but decided not to. Yeah me! Hopefully I'll be stronger tomorrow and able to do it without snacking the whole time.

I'll check in later ladies. Have a great night!!!

Slow today here on #7 - I have gotten an inside tip to watch my lbt while at work - plus I was busy since i left at noon and tomorrow is my friday..

Ya Steph in a small town like yours these are big things..

The dog doesn't seem too needy but Bear hisses at it like he's a wild animal a werid sound - told andrew if they don't get along that dog goes..

Well he is trying to take him for a walk doesn't looke like it's working they just came back - the dog doesn't know how to walk on a leash - it's only 3 months old - I agree this may be too much work for Andrew - we will see - this is one reason I am not getting attached..

Steph, so sorry for what is going on in your community. This time of year is always hard on everyone, and the economy doesn't help! Old wives tale says that these thing come in threes.

Phyl have a glorious time on your cruise. Heck I'd have a carryon just for meds, makeup and hair equipment. Then shoes...that is another suitcase by itself. I've been know to pack 7 pairs of shoes for just a few days...I'm much better now! Buy a suitcase and call it

Janet, I'm envious of your fill! I need one despretly, we won't talk about food...

Survived night 1 of parent conferences, only one night left. Realized last night that I have an assignment due TODAY for the master's program, crap!!! Won't get home until 7:30 or 8. Going to try to get it done during school. I just want the weekend...I'm tired.

Janet, glad you got 'tipped' off about LBTing during work. Everyone does that type of thing, but it is the one thing that can be used 'against you". Our school records every key strock and keeps a record for 3 years. I am VERY careful. Some people forward jokes all day long. I'm too much of a woosie. I hope to come home, take a bath and go to bed, don't even care about eating tonight.

Well best go, I'm sitting here trying to doze off, and THAT isn't a good idea!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

      1. NickelChip

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

    • BeanitoDiego

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
