Well Back from the gym - legs tonite - didn't work up that much of a sweat - maybe cuz it's cold outside.

Candice - Love the pic's too cute

OMG I am so envious of your retirement - Lucky Lucky Girl !!!

I just found out that we have 26 furlough days not 24 - some how cuz we are really paid hourly - even thought we are really paid salary but aren't considered exempt they back in to our pay ck's - Even though there are 2 months where I will have 3 friday's off - it' won't affect my paycheck - At 1st I didn't get it but now I do - the our bookkeepper said I thought you would know this cuz you did books - I said we were paid salary back then and I didn't need to know that stuff..

Then she tells me her assist - made a mistake and my payck tomorrow is going to show that I am getting paid for the 11 hrs I have left of pto (I was carrying that over) She said no one else knows - so I still get to keep my 11 hrs pto - pretty cool to have freinds in high places..

Well - that's about it - I have discovered steel cut oatmeal - pretty good you get 1.75 cup for 150 calories - but I made it a little to thin - I was starving by lunch.. Went out w/gf candy (I have 2 Candice's in my life ;0) and had chineese - only 1/4 c rice

Was starving when I got home right now so sipping a cup of Decaf - cooking my butternut squash to go with my leftover pork tenderloin from last night..

Candice - What is Ruby having surgery for - Karri is suppose to call me at 7 tonite...

Ohhhh-fffff, my cute little puppy just had GAS on me:bored: yuk that was horrible....

RUBY, I gather that she is having a boob job too... she's kind of chesty..... but don't quote me...

I am hoping they will both be VERY happy with their results... I want pictures.

I've decided that after Christmas my goal is to have P.S. next winter in Costa Rica.... I MUST get my remainder weight off... no more excuses... no more B.S. job to blame the stress eating on....

STEEL CUT OATS. yes I love them too.... lots of fibre (its my friend) I make it 2/1 ratio.... 1 cup Water to 1/2 cup oats.... boil the heck out of it... let it sit... will be quite thick. I add chopped apples sometimes, cinnamon, sweetner oorrr

SUGARFREE pancake syrup... yum

Yes, its good to be retireing, but this is the 2nd time I retired. I was an accountant for 25 yrs....

I just don't have the patience anymore.... I'd rather quilt

If I'm careful $$$ and don't go to the casino's, I can still have my travel money.... I've got all my pay in a savings acct anyways.... DH can't get his mitts on it....heee,heee,heee,heee

It's my "get out of Dodge" money.... so to speak LOL

Janet, keep us posted on Karri. We will send prayers her way.

I have another realtor tour tomorrow. I have tried to polish things up, but with the snow the garage is a swamp. The snow in the wheels is melting. Then there is the doggy footprints all over the floor. I know that it isn't going to go as well as the 1st one. I finally decided to hell with realtor alert, I put the tree up. I found out that the 'perfect' house was a misprint. The listed the wrong house with the price. 1st it isn't in florence (it is 30 miles away), then there is the wrong price $169, 000 not #139,000. So needless to say, it is a now go. Figures.

Hi,

Just chatted with Linda a little... filled her in on Candice's retirement, Karri & Ruby's surgery. She is very busy... last week of the semester, working on new curriculum, family challenges.

Don't think I told you this funny story.... Old couple live across the street.. friends of ours, about 85 & 75 and he has alzheimer's.. not bad, but tells the same stories, asks the same questions, over and over. He's a funny old guy, and little... skinny, short. So last week he's in costco with his wife..they both push grocery carts because they don't walk too well. So, wife looks up to see him standing there with his pants around his ankles and looking puzzled... like he can't quite figure out what's wrong but knows something is!! Hmmmm... I can't walk! So she catches up with him.. he says, "can you help me with this"?? And they proceed to pull the pants back up. So she's had everyone in stitches with this story all week. Today I had this bright idea... he's Jewish.. So we went to Walmart and I bought a Happy Hanukkah card and a pair of suspenders. I Put them in a gift bag and took them over to him.. Told him "Happy Hanukkah, Max!" and "I heard you had a little incident at Costco last week!! So his wife is falling out of her chair laughing as he pulls the suspenders out of the bag. And, Max... you would've thought I gave him a million bucks! He was tickled pink and wanted me to help him put them on. It was a kick!! IN THE PANTS!! LOL!

Phyl, love the story. I think it is perfect that you found a simple answer to his 'problem', a true 'kick in the pants'.

Don't know if I will be posting tonight. But I'm going to try so I can see how everyone's surgery goes. I have a meeting with the realtor after school and then have the nursery Christmas party. It is sad that my summer job has a Christmas party and my 'career' job that I got a degree for doesn't. I know the season at the nursery was not the 'best' money wise, but my boss still treats us like royalty. We go to a steak house and have what ever we want from the menu, yummm, I'm feeling like a nice prime rib!!

Only 7 more days of school until break!!!!

So Janet, how did the 'Portland' job come up for Karri? Is it tied to the same job that she currently is doing? Hum, maybe they are in need of another science/math teacher for middle school? Nah, I'd never move until my girls are settled and then I'd probably still never move. Although it would be nice to have a larger salary. But for the most part I am comfortable with where I'm at, besides, I pretty much have to stay here for the next 2 years until I'm done with the masters program. If I moved out of state I would no longer be in the program.

Still haven't had my formal meeting with the principal on my evaluation. She has 10 days after the observation to meet with me and go over the results. We are on day 8, so she still has a couple more days. I hate when they drag it out, just give it to me will yah!. I should be worried, and I am a little, but the reality is that I don't reall give a hoot. Oh remember, how I had all my math classes taken away? Anyway, I have been spending the last week tutoring and helping math students before school, lunch time, and after school. I shouldn't let it get to me, but it really irritates me that they though this guy could do a better job than I and then I have to tutor his kids. I should be a witch and tell the kids no, and when they all fail, then the admin might do something. This guy is a strict clock watcher, he will leave in the middle of a parent meeting when his contract time is up. so needless to say, he doesn't work his lunch hour and only is available to help students from 7:30 until 8:00 am. He leaves 10 minutes after school is dismissed. It just puts my knickers in a twist, but I can't turn down a kid who needs help. Oh well, I need to quit grumbling.

We are suppose to get rain later this week, which will turn to ice on top of the snow. If that happens, school will be closed....oh darn. My luck it will happen during school and the buses won't run AND then I would have to spend the night in my classroom with students, oh hell no.

I suppose I should get going. Don't have an idea on what to wear today. I hate to wear anything nice, because it just gets we slogging through the snow from my car to the school. Janet fill us in on Karri. I will check in later if I get a chance. TTFN

Good Morning Gang...

Why is Ruby having surgery - someone please tell me - I looked at her fb page I didn't see anything.. Just the games that she plays.

As to why Karri may be moving to Portland next yr is cuz they got a grant to open up a new charter school - the same place she works now - and they may even do one in NYC - I told her to go for the NYC one - so I can come and visit :0) - How cool would that be to have a NYer to be able to show you around and a free place to stay ;0) She laughed and told her DH I wanted them to go to NY ;0)

Phly - LOVE LOVE that story.... I chatted with Linda a little bit on FB last night - but it was 8 and I had to go eat - I guess school is tough for her right now...

Karla - It's ok if the house looks a little lived in. I know you want this done fast - but like my Daddy use to tell me (and I have found it's usually true) things work out for the best..

Well, need to get butt in gear - I will let you know about Karri - it's suppose to be a 6 hr surgery - goes in around 7:45 - so I should be getting text from her DH around 1ish..

Will keep you posted on that...

I think Ruby is having PS, too, but don't know any details and can't remember how I found that out!

Keeping Karri in my prayers this morning. She should be in surgery right now. And a neighbor of mine in WA who is having knee replacement this morning with same doc I had.

We did Christmas shopping for each other yesterday afternoon, and I decided to let Earl pick out his own RC helicopter at the hobby shop. So then he wanted to play with it last night... charge the battery, sync it with the controller, etc. So he gave me my iTouch to charge it and play with it. I just sent my sister an email.... I need HELP!! Can't figure out how to sync it with my music, photos, contacts, etc. I did manage to get it signed on to our WiFi network, but only after a long and labored process of trying to figure out what our password is!! Neither of us could remember and I finally figured out how to go to my online site that gives all the info about our network and there it was!! A long and complicated password that neither of us would EVER remember!!!

Today will be a busy day... Water aerobics, beading class, book club... all back to back!! Leaving in about 30 minutes and probably won't be back until at least 2:30 pm!

Oh, Earl dropped my wireless mouse into my hot cup of coffee first thing this morning. Don't ask how that hapened! It's complicated! So now he's trying to dry it out, but we think it's probably dead! So I'm back to the touch pad! For now.

Okay ladies....I am HERE. I have too much to catch up on to even try. .... I guess that's the whole attitude that has me where I'm at. There's too much to even try.

I am very overwhelmed with life and so I sit in my chair and don't do anything....except eat crap. I'm overgrowing my size 10's when a year ago I was wearing size 4. I'm hating life. I know I am in the middle of a horrible pity party and just DON"T care. How horrible is that?

I guess that's why I've been MIA. Life is just over my head right now. Therapy on Tuesdays with Michael. Therapy with either Jeff or Nick on Fridays. It's tearing me up and I just can't cope. I need to go back to just me for awhile, but Nick really needs it and we as a couple/parents need it....and three days a week is just beyond me.

I'm spending a lot of time sitting doing nothing because doing something seems to be too much. So that is me. That's where I've been.

I love you all and know that you will all be picking me up, but know that everything you say I'll have said myself...it just isn't doing any good. Hugs ladies. i know I'm a downer. Sorry.

Steph - Steph - Steph - Hugs Hugs Hugs

You need to take care of you too - are you on your depression meds - have you told the counsler how you feel about all this... I have never done long term counseling - and it was only once a week..

You are not a failure - you are just hitting a rough patch right now and working on making things better - that is a posititive.

Eating - Well what can I say - I do understand - but it's just making you feel that much worse in the long run..

So this is your Big Sis or Auntie Janet - telling you - pull up those boot straps young lady and control what you are putting in your mouth - you might not be able to control whats going on around you - but you do have control of what you put in your mount...

How old is Nick - How is Michael doing - What's up w/Jeff is he being receptive to the counseling??

We love you - we are here for you if you need to vent - come and vent - and hell we all are downers at one time or another,..

Candice - WTG on the exercise - once you become retired you are going to be beating me on the whole exercise issue..

Good Evening Gang...

Got a text from Karri - she's doing fine - pain not too bad - but she is staying over night in the hospital..

Phyl - I know you had a busy day today - and I see that Earl has already crashed his Christmas Present :0)..

Karla's at her party tonite - when we talked the other nite she was practicing my trade off idea (she called it bribing herself) she was going to eat good this week so she could have her steak and the dessert she loves from that restaurant..

Well, I went to the gym - I want to know when did everyone get to be so much younger than me !!!

I swear everyone in the gym is in either their 20-30 maybe a couple 40's...

Oh I go Thrusday at 11:15 for my MRI... This is my 1st MRI - I have never had a cat-scan - pet scan nor mri - only xrays and ultra sound...

Well gotta feed the dogs - can't wait to hear about your busy day today Phyl...

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
