Lucky #7 are still going strong !!!

Oh Steph, I'm praying for you and Michael. All things are possible with God. I know that doesn't really help but it is true. HUGS!!

Karla - got to post office today. Watch the mail. They said 7-10 days. Hope they work out. If not, pass them on to someone who can use them.

Jackie - great news on the surgery. Isn't it always the way that the more we worry and stress over things, the better things work out. Pray that all Courney's dreams come true. And fantastic about your pounds loss. Wish my scale would start moving. It has to be either lack of the gym or reduced thyroid meds. Gonna take care of the gym thing and will discuss the other with my doctor. Still no soda. I did see the cutest little pepsi bottles at the grocery store. O-oh-h. tempting. so tempting. But I resisted.

Janet - Safe trip

Phyl - great on the walking. I'd still take your little scooter with you. Remember, no one shot Murphy before he made his laws. You just may need it.

HAVE A GREAT NIGHT ALL. STAY SAFE. PRAYERS GOING OUT FOR ALL OF YOU.

Thanks ladies. I appreciate your concern. It makes me feel good.

I have called the placement center. They said that once they have paperwork they could have him admitted within the next 72 hours. They have room, I just have to get his diagnosis changed. Where he was this summer needs to call me back. I just don't know.

I don't want to get political but this health care thing....THIS is why it needs done. His placement for 11 days this summer cost over $18,000 dollars. We are lucky to have health insurance to cover most of it. It will only cost us $5000. But still....how many people can't afford that? grrrr...I hope we figure something out, if only for kids. Kids who need help should be able to get it. It shouldn't matter if their parents are good, bad, or indifferent. I will get off the soapbox now.

Okay....so I have to go get Michael and take him to therapy. I have to stay positive. I can keep this going for 72 hours without breaking down. I know I can.

Thanks for the love ladies. You have no idea how important.

Sweetheart We LOVE YOU !!!! I do KNOW how important our Lucky #7 Sisters are - I rely on you all every single day..

Hope the session went well today and you find a place soon..

Hugs Hugs Hugs !!!

Oh Phyl, take the 199 and RUN>>>>>>> its a super accomplishment... scales are always correct when they hit the 'lower' number hee,hee,hee...

Is Earl getting fat eating all your leftovers???

Yes the lower #'s are the only ones that count !!!!

Ok he just came out. His words 'nice smooth boring run of the mill surgery. Just like we like it!' In recovery iuntil 7

Yea !!! Thank God it all went well - Love to you both...

Cut my 1/2 mile walk from 25 minutes to 18 minutes! Maybe because it was raining!! LOL! No.. I'm walking considerably faster than I was.. and with a more normal stride. No pain. Down to 1-2 pain pills a day. Took one yesterday before PT an one at bedtime because my knee was hurting after about 20 minutes working out on the Wii Fit. None today, though.. Feeling really good!

Have a pork roast in the oven, and some sweet potato strips. Yummy!

Glad to hear everything went so well with Courtney!

We are making great progress with our packing.. if you don't listen to Earl. He is always stressing about something! LOL

He's agreed to go to lunch with Tracy tomorrow. That's good! High school she worked at before she was laid off has a parade every fall and she's always missed it because even though hte kids all left for the parade... she had to stay in the health room in case of any incidents. So she's looking forward to being able to watch the parade. So we're going early to get a good place to watch, so we'll have lunch first.

Don't know what dates you gals want to consider for our next summer Lucky #7 reunion, but I just looked at Holiday Inns in the area. I found a pretty good rate at a Holiday Inn in Marysville.. about 10 miles from where we live. Rate was about $30 a night less than the one in Everett with basically the same amenities ($104-108 per night for 2 queen beds) and probably a little better location. Indoor pool & hot tub, exercise room, complimentary Breakfast, microwave & refrigerator in room, free Wi-Fi, 32" flat screen TV. Dates I looked at July 22-26, 2010. There is a LARGE casino/hotel in Marysville, and a huge outlet mall right next to it. And, of course, lots of other attractions in the area.

I have sent an email to the Busy Bee quilters of Snohomish WA to see what activities they might have scheduled for July 2010.

I have told you that I am seriously flirting with ONDERLAND! I made a declaration to Earl today that I thought that deserved another REWARD, and I choose a COACH PURSE! I have a knock off... but I want a real one! There was only a very quiet, pathetic groan in response, so I may be purse shopping this weekend!!

7_18_5.gif

LOVE THE DATES - LOVE THE PRICE - LOVE THE FLAT SCREEN AND FRIDGE & MICROWAVE IN THE ROOM - IT'S GREAT FOR THE LEFT OVERS...

GANG WE NEED TO MAKE A PACK ON THIS - HOPE FULLY KARLA CAN HITCH A RIDE WITH STEPH - AND SHE CAN BUNK WITH ME AND NOT WORRY ABOUT THE ROOM ...

YES EARL IS ALWAYS STRESSING - THAT GOT ME LOLING...

YOU ARE DOING SO GOOD WITH YOUR WALKING...

Home, lost dinner. Too much stress I guess. I hit the wall, going to take a shower and go to bed.

Jackie, whewww, relax now!!

Steph, get Michael to the residential facility.

Did some stress eating. Only Jerky, but probably too much.

Chat tomorrow.

GF HUGS - I AM GOING TO HAVE TO GET ONE OF THOSE LITTLE LAPTOPS FOR TRAVELING - I HAVE MY BRO'S BUT IT'S TO HEAVY TO CARRY - I WANT A LITTLE ONE - SANTA ARE YOU LISTENING !!!!

OK GIRLS - I AM ALMOST DONE PACKING -MAKEUP CAN'T GO TIL IN THE A.M - JAMMIES AND NYLONS ARE ALL THAT I HAVE TO PACK -

TALKED TO MY STEP COUSIN CHRIS - GOING TO MEET AT THE FUNERAL HOME @ 5 TOMORROW - THEN GO TO dinner - THEN THE FUNERAL IS NOON ON SATURDAY - AND THEN TO THEIR HOUSE AFTERWARDS...

I AM WEARING THE BLUE SLACKS AND BEIGE TOP OR MAYBE MY YELLOW CROCTEH SWEATER TO THE VEIWING/DINNER TOMORROW - WAS GOING MORE CASUAL BUT THOUGHT SINCE I WAS GOING TO THE FUNERAL HOME MAYBE I SHOULD DRESS A BIT - NOTHING FANCYING IT'S WHAT I WORE TO MICHAEL'S VIEWING AND THE DRESS IS WHAT I WORE TO HIS FUNERAL TOO.. JEANS FOR THE PLANE.. I HATE NOT KNOWING WHAT TO WEAR..

TALKED TO MY GF CANDICE TONITE - THANKS & HUGS GF..

WELL THE DRYER IS DONE - SO GOTTA GO FINISH PACKING

TALK TO YOU ALL ON SUNDAY.. I'M NOT YELLING JUST TO LAZY TO TAKE OFF CAPS - ;0)

XOXOXO JANET

So ladies. Wow. A horrible night. Horrible horrible. Finally called the sheriff. Michael is spending the night with someone else because he was going to run away if we made him stay here.

Hopefully will hear from the placement facility tomorrow early. I will call them before noon if I don't hear anything. God help me. It's very very tough. I can't even put into words what I'm feeling these days. Im too shell shocked to explain more. Tomorrow.

Oh Steph, I'm so sorry. Get him into the residential facility. What did the therapist say? You are doing what you can. Try to breathe until him is placed and then you and Jeff go to a hotel and pamper yourself. Try to substitute the Cookies with a Protein bar. I love the Cliff PB Protein or the Atkins carmel nut. Both go down easy. Then at least you would be getting some protein. Call the residential facility and push. If not put him in the immediate care facility he was in before. I know it would be hell if he ran away, so he know he has you by the short ones. Get him Placed, tell him this is about his actions, you hate the actions, but love him. This is about power. He KNOWS he can twist you around emotionally with threats, etc., but is time to take back you life. This is going to be one of the toughest things you do. Remember its about his actions. You will always love him, but it is okay to step back and say, "You are out of control & I'm not going to allow you to manipulate me."

Kari, thanks for the package, I can't wait. Yesterday it took me 15 minutes to find something to wear. I only have 1 or 2 tops which fit that have sleeves.

Phyl, take the scooter, when you get there and don't need it, sell it to someone who does. Ohhh, I never have been to much into bags until I went hunting for a name brand last year for DD#3's Christmas gift. We found her an adorable 'DB' (I think, better than Coach, but not quite a luis Veton.) Then I was hooked. I'm always surfing at TJ Maxs. I got her one that was normally $350 for $80. also found an adorable Andy Warhol Art museum one for my other DD. I want a Spade. some day.

On the vacation thing, July is good for me, I will have classes in June and then a long weekend in August. The Price sounds good to me as well. If we can fit in a quilt shop or show... I have asked for trip $$ for Christmas/birthday/mother's day from my DD's. What I really need is a new mattress, mine is 25 years old. But I can sleep on a lousy mattress, I can't go without getting together.

Sushi boy is home from fighting fires. Got a short email from him yesterday. Not mentioning getting together. Got some emails from a guy who lives in New York and says he is relocating to montana. He is 'supposidly' an achitect. There was just something that set my radar flapping. Chatted on email a few times, he said all the right things, but it just didn't feel right. all I could think of is those ladies who marry the perfect man and come to find out he was a con man and disappeared with all their money. He kept asking me if I like 'property' that he is really into property. Those where his words. I'm going with my spider sense and ignoring him.

Guess I rambled a bit.

jackie, today will probably be rough for Courtney. Second days typically are. She will be fine.

Well need to decide if I'm making another latte or not. I think that is a yes. I do need to jab myself this morning. Think positive thoughts. I do think they are giving me more energy. I hadn't realize how much more energy I had until last night when the shot wore off. Just crashed, sat on the couch and drooled. So jab this morning. Think of me.

Just talked to the residential facility. They have all the information that they need. Problem....unless he is diagnosed bipolar or major depressive, he can only stay 10 days. Well...he isn't diagnosed as either of those. The problem...our insurance. Yeah, they will only pay for 21 days of mental health in a calendar year and we used 11 of those this summer. Lovely! So, here another child in need of help...desperate need....can't get the help he needs because of insurance. If he was on medicaid...well then he'd be just fine, but because we work and provide insurance for our family...screw us!

I'm distraught. I'm trying to stay positive that they will figure something out with our case manager. It just makes me so completely ANGRY! If he doesn't go there....we can't afford the placement facilities that I have found. They are over $5k a month. I'm dying inside. I'm going to go curl up on the couch and snuggle my darling girl. Hold on tight to the good stuff in my life.

Day 2; perfect! Court still doing great. Hasn't had nor needed any pain medication. Says she has no pain. The nurses are amazed at how much walking she did last night!! She pushes them so she can go walk cuz they have to be with her. Up today Barium swallow complete. Waiting on results so she can have something to drink. Still NO PAIN so no pain meds. Doctor is very impressed with how much walking and says she is very determined and will be a success. Very proud of her. She is even getting in and out of bed by herself. The more the better though. Work those muscles.

Hi ladies. Did a quick pick up of the house. Feeling a little better. I KNOW that it will all work out. For the best. I know it will. I prayed. This will work out.

Candice, what about sangria instead? I hate champagne too. Ice cubes. How funny. Just remember...because of his frugalness, you were able to buy your RV. There are trade-offs. He sounds like a peach. Snuggle him.

Home from the first day of the Big Sky Science Project. It is a 2 year committment with 2 weeks each summer, 3 days 'culture camp' (indian ed) per summer, 4 weekends per school year, and next year will start the online master's classes, and then a Capstone (research in education) project that is presented to a graduate board. The good thing is that other than the 4 Fridays during the school year, I will get paid $200 per day. Naturally thinking...what the heck did I get myself into. Most of the people started last summer, so I am in catch up mode. We have a special meeting a week from now for use newbies that are replacing those that dropped out. So hopefully I will feel better about it in a few weeks.

Going out for beverages tomorrow with a friend that is also in the program. Hopefully will be able to eat/drink. Today was tough. lunch was really rushed and I took the first couple of bites too fast so that ended lunch. Breakfast took me 1 hour to eat, take a bite, wait... I was just feeling rushed and nervous so everything was fighting me, even my coffee. Hopefully tonight will be better. Ended up having some grapes and a granola bar, not the best snack choices, but there wasn't a lot of food choices. Need to plan better.

Jackie, I'm so glad things are going well with Courtney. she will be successful!

I need to figure out how to get exercise into my schedule. I was great while it was summer, but I can't seem to stop long enough to workout.

Steph, I'm going to toss a little advice back at you...Have you visioned Michael in the residential facility getting the treatment he needs and moving onto a positive path? Think the Secret...What are you attracting?

Pretty low keyed night. DD#4 is on a date. Third one with the same guy. This is an all time first. I have been using the Secret to see her in a happy relationship. Finding someone who will not manipulate her or take advantage of her...AND...I think this is the one! He is quiet and shy like her. His mom is also a teacher and he still lives at home... like her. She met him at school, so he has goals. They take their respective dogs for walks together and this is their idea of night on the town. Neither of them drink or are into the party scene. So we will see what happens.

Pretty sure I got 'dumped' by sushi boy before I even got a chance to meet him. Got an email saying he was home from fighting our local fires and that was pretty much it. No problem. Just when I think, okay I could enjoy a hug once in a while...Even visualized meeting him.

Hello hello hello!!! DH just brought my laptop to the hospital. Had to report. EXCELLENT day today. Still NO PAIN!!! and hasn't had any pain meds. They are calling her their super star patient. She has walked most of the day and is getting out of bed on her own. Things are going in the right direction. She is very happy!! and mama is too. My baby is on the health track now!

I walked down the halls across the hospital and got a fill today. Yup I believe I am at my sweet spot now. I am down 12 lbs so far. feeling great. Dr is impressed. I am so REMOTIVATED!!! Can't wait to hit the gym!

Gave Court her gym membership card and new Nikey's she had wanted but didn't know i had ordered today. Told her this was a gift that will keep giving. She was so excited and has told everyone what her gift from mom was.

Well Better go. I am really tired. Hospital bed is ok comfy but would rather have my pillows. And as bad as this sounds I am enjoying my time here.......it's like a vacation for me. No house cleaning nagging at me, now work and my daughter is ok so I am enjoying some R and R.

Very good news! Walking... is GREAT!! It will help her feel better faster.

(yuk, I hate champagne, all those damn bubbles)

Now, he's home agian and anounced that he's going to start making ICE CUBES for next weekend....

O..k... now PHYL, stop laughing!!! I know you know what I mean.... EARL ALLERT!!!

OMG my hubby and Earl were cloned and separated at BIRTH.... remember the drying paper towels on the counter so you could reuse them????

Well, that's only a brilliant idea cause MY hubby didn't think of it FIRST. LOL

Oh my gosh! All that money spent on suits for the wedding, my outfit, shoes, purse, nails....Cash gift... and dah... we gotta make ice cubes... cause they will just put us in the POOR HOUSE they cost so much. I just thought you'all needed a good laugh today..:-)

You will probably want to fly in to Seattle. Unless its cheaper (LOL) to fly in to Vancouver BC.. but it's at least a 3 hr drive.

ICE CUBES!! LOL!! That is SO funny! After the first week of running across the street to Albertson's for bags of ice for my electric ice machine after the knee surgery, Earl decided he'd make his own ice. We don't have ice cube trays! So he used little bowls.. which made huge chunks of ice. So after a couple of days of using these huge chunks of ice... the machine QUITS!! Not designed to use big chunks of ice. We called the doctor's office we bought the thing from and fortunately they replaced it, no questions asked, because it was under warranty and we paid $125 for the thing! But... NO MORE big chunks of ice!! He went back to running across the street for bags of ice.

Ummm, sangria... LOVE it, but its a Warm weather drink no?

Yes, he is frugal... and you are right... its because of this that we'll do fine in retirement.... it just kinda makes me shake my head..... I do cherish him... I try to tell him everyday how much he means to me.... and he IS snuggalable!!! :)

Heck... why would you only be able to drink Sangria in warm weather??? I like champagne... don't mind the bubbles, but you know I prefer my red wine... merlot, or something pretty dry. In fact, at the moment I"m trying to drown the headache I've had since Monday in some .... merlot or cab or something red and dry. It didn't work Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday, but Friday is a new day. Who knows!!??? LOL .

Just a dull headache, but it won't go away!

7_4_33.gif

Retirement.... he will relax after a year or so. It's 6 years for us now and Earl is delighted that we haven't had to tap in to our IRA by now! Usually have money left over at the end of the month. I think he's going to take it hard when he gets to 70 1/2 a few years from now and is forced to start withdrawing funds!

Just put the CROCK POT on to simmer so I can continue to SEW in the basement.... hee,hee

Leftover Pork roast cut into cubes, leftover spag sauce, Sauteed mushrooms, onions, garlic thrown in with a BAY leaf, can of white kidney Beans, some balsamic vinegar, some molases, dijon mustard... hope its good... kinda like Clean out the fridge day..:)

Hmmmm... we have left over pork roast from last night. That sounds like a good way to use it!! Except I don't have any left over spaghetti sauce!

I cooked some oysters a few days ago with disastrous results. They are still in the refrigerator.. haven't used them yet. Want to make fish chowder with them. I sort of incinerated them in the oven!!

SO... I went shopping with Tracy today for quite a long time with NO scooter!! It was a big adjustment for Earl! Poor guy fell in to a deep sleep in his recliner after we got home. Then he woke up and decided maybe he should go take a nap! UH... what was that 30 minutes of snoring I heard. So he went and took an hour nap! I bought a couple of long sleeve tops, a burgundy corderoy shirt/jacket, and a pair of twill pants....$58 price tag on sale for $5.50 and then I got another 20% off! But I was pretty excited about all that shopping without the scooter. We had a great time!

First we went to downtown Snohomish and watched the high school homecoming parade. She could never go see it when she was working there because she had to stay in the health room in case anyone got hurt. So she was happy to be able to watch it today. Then the three of us went to lunch at a place we will have to hit if you guys come here next summer. Really nice soup/sandwich type place- Cabbage patch Restaurant. None of us had ever been there before. Earl said it was the best chicken pot pie he ever had. Tracy and I split a chicken salad sandwich and then had a cup of Soup.

After lunch we sent Earl on his way... asking a few more times, "are you SURE you don't need the scooter????" Then we went to JCPenney's where I got the jacket and long sleeve tops. Then we went to Kohl's. DIL wanted a Seahawks Santa Gnome... which was also 20% off and I should have bought one for us, too! Then I agreed to let them reinstate my Kohl's card and I got a scratch card for the 20% off my total!! Then we ended the afternoon at our favorite coffee stand and got a latte! To freak out Earl, I called him just as we were driving in to our parking lot and told him he needed to come outside and help me carry my stuff in!! LOL!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
