mayflower419 0 Posted September 28, 2005 well I had my first fill yesterday and the doctor couldn't find my port. said it was very deep. Thank god for lidocaine because he tried for about ten min. went thru 3 needles they kept coming out bent. He finally decided to do it under x-ray. I had to roll on my left side for him to access the port. Boy was I sore once the lidocaine wore off. Now we know for the next fill to roll on my side. I got 1cc now the fun begins. Parvathi 2 Posted September 28, 2005 Sorry to hear that your first fill was a bad experience. It does get better. I generally in and out within 5 minutes now .. that includes talking to the doctor lol. Just remember to take things slowly for the next few days (food wise) - generally, mushie foods are easier to manage right after a fill.
tomorrowsdream 0 Posted October 1, 2005 It hurts to get the fills? Someone told me they are either placed in the sternum or the lower stomach. Which is best? They say the sternum is easier access, but sounds lots more painful. I'm such a coward.
