How soon did those of you that work outside the home go back to work?

I'd love to have it on a Friday and go back Monday but I just don't know how realistic that is? :sneaky:

Some people do return to work that quickly, but I know that I would not have been ready. I wasn't ready for at least a week. It will depend on what type of work you do and how you feel.

I had my surgery on a Thursday, and was back to work on Monday. No one in my office even knew I had surgery. I was just very careful no not push myself too hard. I was told by my doctor that I could return to work within 3 days as long as my job did not require me to lift, etc. Just a suggestion- make sure that you get up and move every hour or so. I non-chalantly made little "laps" around the whole office, went to refill my water bottle, went to the bathroom, got up to fax something, etc. It really helps with the pain, and gas...at least it did for me. I lived really close to my office at the time of surgery, so I went home for lunch...(didn't have to bring my magic bullet to work with me).

Good luck, and I am sure you will be fine!

That depends so much on you! We're all so different. I had my surgery on Tuesday and went back to work on Friday with no problem. I've heard plenty say they did the same thing or maybe a day more...but there are also plenty who needed a week or even gave themselves longer than that.

Have you had any surgery before? How quickly do you heal? What kind of work do you do? (I sit down all day. If I'd had to stand a lot, I would have needed through the weekend.)

I just had a c-section in March and was painting the nursary the day after I came home. (albeit I was in pain the next day for that) I work in HR, so it's a sit down job. I just don't want to take too much time off after just getting back from maternity leave..

Sit down job? That's me! What I would do is plan to go back to work on Monday then. You may be tired that afternoon (I was, but not terribly so) but if you can get a little help with family dinner that night, and your child(ren), an early bedtime will be more than enough to set you right for the next day.

I believe in the power of positive thinking, LOL. I believed it wouldn't be that bad to go back to work when I did and it wasn't.

I originally was going to go back to work on the Monday after my surgery (surgery was on a Wednesday). But I ended up taking 2 weeks as I didnt bounce back as quickly as I thought I would. It hurt to drive (stomach) and to sit in an upright position for too long (and I have a desk job). So since I could get short term disability..I went ahead and took that extra time to heal. (if I didnt have the short term disability where I could get a paycheck, I wouldnt of been able to take that extra time). I would recommend more than a few days....IF you can take it. Nothing wrong with taking the time if you can..your body needs to heal. Good luck!

I had my surgery on Thursday, worked from home Monday and Tuesday, went back full time on Wednesday. Wednesday was a pretty tiring day but each day got better, and by the following Monday I was at about 90%!

I took 2 weeks to adjust to my new life and it is nice to have the time off. I needed a break and I haven't taken any significant time off for over a year. Take the time if you have it if not take at least 3 to 4 days.

Just wondering to those who have been through this, I dont work but I am scheduled for Wednesday and I have class the next day. Would you have been up to sitting in on a class? (its college so I would be able to get up and walk around as needed) I have two classes that have attendance points that I would like to sit in on. JW, any imput would be very helpful.

Unless you are going to have someone drive you to school, you really can't go. I pretty sure you aren't cleared for driving because of the anesthetic in your system from the surgery the day before. Even is someone is driving you, you probably won't feel like it.

I thought this would be a piece of cake, but it was FAR from that.

It has really surprised me that it's taken so long to recover, but that's how it is in my case.

I would plan on two weeks, just in case, If you get well sooner, then you can go back early.

good luck

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
