How do you know if you are stretching out your stomach? I've had one fill so far but I'm still hungry. I just want to make sure that I am not stretching out my stomache. Any advice?

honestly, until you're restricted well and food doesn't go through the stoma quickly, you're probably ok as long as you don't gorge or binge on stuff. Your doc can give you the "final word" on this but I know that I ate "more" than 1 cup etc before I hit my sweet spot. I ate LESS than preband, but still "more". I just worked very hard to never get "stuffed" or that "holiday meal" full feeling.

I'm not stretched; I'm doing well at 11 months out (and good restriction, FINALLY, since 5/7) So you don't have to wander around starved, just watch it and talk to your doc about it. Until you get restriction, it's not uncommon to be in your position.

Thanks for asking that question. I also have been wondering about that. I have a little restriction, but not enough. I am eating Proteins only (with some vegetables now and again) but I am definitely eating more than a cup at time (sometimes 1.5-2 cups of food). I am going in for another fill on Aug. 25th. I think the primary reason why I have less restriction is because I don't eat red meat or chicken. The main staples of my diet are fish and tofu which are very soft. So I think it will take a little more fill for me than some others who do eat tough meats.< /p>

Maybe the key is "tough" meats...but I think a better way to describe them would be "dense". My prime ribeye steak (my Sunday night meal! LOVE it!) isn't tough

But it does pack a powerful "fullness" punch. 3 oz and I'm good for 6 hours! :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
